powder coating?

Don't know too much about it but I was wondering if my existing rims can be powder coated or painted black? I heard that powder coating is better then painting them.... Anyways is there a way to do it yourself or would you have to give it to a shop? If so does anyone know the prices, how long it takes, etc.. again I don't know much about it so thanks for all the help. Pics are in my profile
