i bought a 95 talon TSI, the owner lied to me. after i bought the car, i found out when i turn on my car the car will make DA DA DA DA DA DA noise after few mins will be ok.. i asked somebody in the shops they told me is the piston problem after few minutes the engine will be hot then i cant hear it.
problems:
first gear after 4k rpm will get power..
then second gear will not produce any power..
engine overheating, temp almost in the red line...
do i need replace the engine all i can fix this problem by replace the pistons?
i really want get the power back, now its slower than a corolla

can we get this guy some grammar and spelling lessons? What exactly is the problem with the piston. That's a pretty big deal no matter what exactly is wrong with it and I don't think your car would still be running. Be a little more specific in your problem description. Also, try to speak english so we can all understand you a little better.

do a compression check and a leak down test. theses test will tell u the life of your engine, if the results come out bad u will more than likely have to get the engine rebiult or swap for another engine.. www.vfaq.com shows how to do these tests :thumb:

sounds like the previous owner let the car to too hot too many times. my suggestion would find out if ur thermostat is stuck, see if the water pump is properly pumping water. then do a compression check. my guess is that the previous owner let the engine get too hot 1 too many times and now you have a rod knock, make sure you do an oil change or at least put some stp oil treatment into it, keep the greese in the oil, hot engines will thin oil and cause damage...

If he spun a rod the knock would get worse as the engine and oil get warmer. What about lifters? they always make noise when cold then go away once its warmed up

I would think that overheating would warp the head. Rod knock??? That would be in extreme cases.

make sure you do an oil change or at least put some stp oil treatment into it,

Why would you want to use a bandaid instead of finding out what the real problem is?

keep the greese in the oil, hot engines will thin oil and cause damage...

Could you please explain what you mean by this?

All in all the poster needs to be more specific. Why would a shop tell you it was a piston, what made them come to this conclusion?

I agree, you need to do a compression check. This should have been done BEFORE buying the car. A compression test is the "tell all" to what is going on inside the motor. Hell for all we know, you could have a burnt valve and have nothing to do with a piston.
