Is the new wiring harness different, or can you get the new one and swap it in?

I'm interested about that also.

If that reads knock, you could use it to tune the car right? I'm getting an egt also but if i could use that with it I would be VERY interested

If they could figure out how to make it read knock that would be sweet for 2g's. I would almost switch for that. But then my SAFC now aint going to be worth crap.

there has to be a way, i mean the DSMlink retains a 95 Eprom ECU and it can display the knock reading frm the sensor, so Im sure there is a way that the Apexi people could code the S-AFC to read the same signal from the ECU

But think about this.

Even if it reads knock You can't log it. so what's the point. Are going to have someone stare at the AFC while you do a WOT run and write down the knock vaules at each RPM?

If it's like the old AFC the only thing you can do is set it to tell you the max knock it saw on one run.

Think of it this way:

Say I am the ECU and I know the knock count. If I choose not to tell you the knock count, there is now way of you knowing it without intercepting the count before it gets to me. So the 1G & 95 eproms will communicate this, not the ODB2. At least that is the way it was explained to me.

Oh and yes, it doesn't do much good if you cant log it!

Your right... but you could just set the alarm to go off whenever you get a knock count of 1 or whatever you want.

True. But it's still not worth it to me if you cant log it.

Thats why im getting dsmlink.

In my personal opinion afc's are crippled to begin with.

If it worked, wouldnt someone else came up with hard wiring the knock sensor and read the signal .Then convert to a value that is like a DSM. Are all values the same for all cars(any car)?Or is there a sensor check/change for different cars e.g.Karman/map/flap/hot wire for the air metering?

Please name another low-price alternative that can control fuel curves?

Yeah, if that thing reads knock put me down on the list too.......that thing is nice and i like the fact that it is a little smaller than the old one.....i will have some measurements of a standard din slot soon so that we can figure out whether or not it will fit....peace!

alrightguys....here are the #'s for the single din opening:
7" X 2" which converts to 177.8mm X 50.8mm
I hope this is able to help......if it doesn't fit, and you dont care whether or not you can see it then the glove box is a great place for it too.....peace

in retrospect though on a 2G you really want to tune for 0 knock because any knock on a 2G really pulls the timing something harsh. So a logger wouldnt be all that necesary since you can watch the AFC as you are driving and if you knock then remember then back out of it and adjust the fuel. Simple as that.
