Painting engine bay pieces.

I have NO ides where to put this. Here looks good.

Anywho, the entire engine craddle was rusted pretty bad. Since a new center subframe itself costs around $500. I got a sand blaster instead. I sandblasted all the pieces (ironically except the subframe which is the worst part) and then painted it with Rust-oleum Automotive Enamel (Spray Paint) in High Gloss Black.

It actually looks REALLY good. Brand new almost. But I'm afraid it will all come off. I did one coat. How do ensure that the paint sticks and doesn't come off?

Spray Paint is not my Ideal for under neath the car.

I rather use This Kind of paint.

When I go down to bare metal I try to use a self etching primer on it before painting it with any color. There is no grantee that it will hold up to the abuse it will take underneath the car but it will defiantly help. For that the best thing would have been powder coat, or maybe a two part epoxy paint like this K&B Manufacturing There use to be a company that sold a two part epoxy for 2-cycle dirt bike exhaust that was pretty darn tuff but I don't remember who made it and I am having a hard time finding it again, but something like that would probably work well also.

......POR15..... This is what i normally use. I did this on my brothers charger. Three years later, its still there and holding fine! Just peek into it. This was designed for this exact use. Not a quick spray on and hope it works. If you follow their directions, and use their prep items, it bonded so well that i can drop it -on accident- and the paint did not chip.

I've been using the self etching primer with good results on bare metal.
I've heard great things about por15 but find it annoying you can't find the kit in stores. Have to buy it direct from por15.com

In walmart and such no. If you have a hot rod shop or a restoration shop close by, ive seen this product there.

Well I painted them already.... with the stuff above. I might throw on another coat. But I don't want to sand blast these pieces again.
