i need a paint job for my car. I was wondering if theres any good spots in the bay to get my car painted at. I also need to have the 2gb bumpers filled in and painted too. I'd greatly appreciate if someone could tell me a good spot to get this done.

So no one knows a good spot to get a car painted in the bay... that's surprising.

im not sure buts theres a few okey shops in san jose on monterey rd. ill check around and see whats good as i am also looking for a place to paint my car too...

### color you planing to paint your car?:hellyeah:

im in the process of getting it done at international autobody in san burno. They are very legit and do alot of high end cars such as porches and mercedes and BMW

I went to Maaco, they want $2300. The guy pretty much told me what I wanted. i didn't say anything. I wanted to see where he was gonna go with it. I do want base coat clear coat, and that starts at $1399.

Was this the Maaco off Airbase? Just had my car painted there. He was trying to charge me $2300 as well, but included him fixing a nasty dent on my rear quarter panel. After an hour of negotiating, we settled on the single coat with integrated clear, complete surface prep on some badly oxidized areas, and dent repair, for $1600 out the door. It didn't turn out too bad, one paint run on the front bumper and some tiny other imperfections. Had I paid the price he was asking I would've been upset, but for the price I paid, it turned out pretty good.

Yeah, it was the place at the end of the court off of Claybank. He sounded like he wanted to negotiate when I said I wasnt going to be ready until the first of the year. He asked me what it was going to take to get me in there sooner. I said Christmas is coming, Im not going to limit myself or my son so I can get my car painted. I have stuff to buy. So Im not even looking at it right now. Its still a ways off for me. I was just curious at what they would charge. I had my car smogged at a place downtown, and the guy that works there had them paint his Jeep, this thing was immaculate. It had a nice shine on it and everything. And he had said he paid $400 for it. I knew what I was looking for was going to be more than $400. Im still looking though. There is another guy out in Lodi that has a shop that will paint starting at $400 and color change for $1200. Im just looking at getting it painted the same color.

Lol, yeah, I know I could've gotten a better price on the painting part of the work somewhere else, but it was the bodywork that jacked the price up. Dents on the rear quarter panels are probably the hardest ones to work with on a DSM.

I have one small dent there and 3 on the roof, and the ones on the roof you cant even see unless you put your cheek to the roof, and that drivers side rear quarter panel one is about the size of a dime. I may just buy one of those suction cups and pull it out. Same with the roof, none of them even break the paint. They are about the size of, say if hail hit it. Cant even make it out. but they wanted like $400 to repair just that.

I had my 94 Celica painted at Maaco in fremont on grimmer blvd (there's 2 maaco's in fremont) I paid about $650 for some extra sanding, a primer coat, and then a single stage paint. I was having it painted to up the value to sell it more easily, but I was actually surprised when I saw how good it looked. Here's some before and after pics

sup guys. theres this shop in stockton, yea its far but back then ( 6 years ago) when i had my 97 gst and when it got rear end this shop did a hella good job on my car. its called angkor auto body or paint. i remembered people traveled all over to come get their cars painted at this shop. just throwing it out there. theyre kinda expensive but their work is awesome. heres their number (209)463-0941.

in my experience with my friends car and maaco is that it takes them a few times and its expensive... but being into cars and the automotive field does show that it is more WHO is doing it than which company... so i'd say find out who actually painted the '94 celica cause that looks way better than my friends car did, even after going there 3 times for free touch ups

maaco is is pretty good shop... people think they dont do a good job.. but they your wrong... i put my eclipse there to get a paint job not too long ago... and im really surprised how my car turns out... of course you'll see a couple of imperfection.. but it will depends how much u paid for.. if you get the cheaper package then then you'll get what u paid for..if you get the 1500 to 2500 you will see the difference.. for my car i only pay 800 including the sanding the paint..but its still came out nice...

How was the condition your paint before you took it to Maaco? I've got the dreaded black clearcoat peel, I'm pretty sure they're going to have to strip at least the clear off. Someone I work with got his black 3G eclipse painted and it turned out very good as well. hopefully lasts longer than the stock black.

also...

There is a place we took my dad's CRZ to get some work done after something hit the top of the car and it looks like it turned out pretty well. They have a lifetime guarantee on the work also. its called:
Tuc's Autobody
183 Ryland St # 8 San Jose, CA 95110-2328

i was not really bad... the clear coat of the car was fading, i have a cracked front bumper. i notice that it wasn't the original front bumper its after market..) pretty much the paint is fading and it getting oxidize maybe becoz the car is always park outside by the previous owner... but the car is in good hands now... :) best advise is shop around make a phone call or visit the shop and ask...that's what i do..

Affordable pain on mission st.
Used to be called Scheib. If you're looking for just a basic paint job w/ no clear coat, starting price is 600.00. One coat of clear coat, 900.00, and then the premium package is 1200.00
