Ok, so a while back i had an oil leak coming from my exhaust manifold. So i ordered new studs and a gasket. Well i just took the manifold off and there is oil everywhere,WTF in every runner. Last year the timing belt snapped and took the valves with it, so there are 16 new valves, seats, and stem seals. What or where is all this oil coming from? Also new headgasket and head studs were installed too. Anyone??

No oil in antifreeze, all valves, seats and seals were replaced last year. Im probally gonna take the head off and have it pressure checked to see if there are any cracks in it from the valves bending.

bad valve guides and or seals will do it but check the intake side to be sure its not from the pcv valve or turbo. check all the basics before you remove the head. if you did it the last time you know cyclender head removal is not the quickest job

did you have oil shooting out of your intake pipe?? my friend is having that problem right now and has no idea why it is happening. He also just had the bottem end rebuilt about 7 months ago.

no no oil coming out the intake pipe. Just on the exhaust manifold and in the runners. I had 2 broken exhaust manifold bolts and thats where the oil was leaking from, around the gasket where the 2 mani bolts were. So i thought it was the valve cover gasket because when i pulled the plugs there were oil inside where the plugs were. But it wasnt the gasket, its still doing it. I already changed the PVC valve a month ago, it was acting up and had a boost leak there so i changed it and the problems went away. Now just have oil coming out the runners and burning in the turbo. Did a compression check, i was actually suprised at the numbers since the motor has 217,000 on the clock......138,141,139,140, did all these while engine was still warm. Didn't do a wet test because the numbers were high and none were that far off. I think it has had a rebuild but i asked the previous owner and he said he didnt rebuild it, but he doesnt know about the person before him. Any ideas guys before i pull the engine this weekend and do some work???

anyone know where I can get the tensioner tool for installing the timing belt? I've looked everywhere and can't find one. Or does anyone know how to make one, i could fab one up at work. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Ive never used it on any of my timing belts. on that note I saw somewhere on how to make one...going to google, be right back.

With standard compression of 164 and service limit of 121, those numbers are livable at best, certainly not "high" enough to skip the wet test, assuming the test was done properly.

Drove it to the store and back to get a few beers ;) then pulled the plugs as soon as i shut it off. I pulled one at a time, starting with #1, pulled fuse for pump and held WOT during test. Wrote down number for cylinder, put plug back in and continued to next plug. Did this for all 4. The engine was plenty warm, trust me as i burnt my hands a few times. I didnt know the standard was that high for a 1G or else i would have done a wet test. This weekend I'll do another followed by a wet test and let you know.
PS anyone have good luck with shipping from Slowboy? I've ordered the parts 5 days ago and havent seen them yet......
