hey guys, i just bought a turbo back n1 for my 2g awd and i know i have 2 o2 sensors. 1 upstreem(in the exhaust manifold) and the seconds in the midpipe. my problem is my cars 11 years old and i know when i bring it to work and put my exhaust on most likely the threads are gona strip and i highly doubt we would have an o2 sensor for that car in stock. i saw a o2 sensor dummy on the web a few days ago, where if i screw that in the exhaust it wont leak and then i connect the harness and it will trick the ecu so the check engine light doesnt go on. 1 does anyone know what im talking about? 2 does anyone have it and i could use some info on it. like where to find it again and does it actually work? thanks alot, john

Go to vfaq.com under the exhaust section on the very bottom of the page and there is a writeup of how to eliminate the rear o2 sensor. It involves soldering a few resistors between the wires, nothing big. Hope that helps.

I've heard of the wires getting extreamly hot doing that mod. Any merit to that? A guy awhile back posted on another forum im on asking for help becasue of the heat.

hmm, well its says on the writeup to make sure you dont get skimpy when using the resistors. you have to make sure you use ones that are up to the job easily. maybe the wire that heats it can be grounded out? not sure bout that though.

thanks guys for the help, but thats if im even able to save my o2 sensor. now my question was has anyone seen this o2 sensor dummy im talkin about? and where can i find it?

:talon: well i was saying that i want to put my new apexi n1 turboback on my car. and i need to remove the old o2 sensor from the stock exhaust but im afraid the the threads are gona strip. now im asking if theres a aftermarket dummy o2 sensor somewhere online?

no i dont think they will strip. drench it wit some pb blaster. but if your still set on putting a "dummy" go a a hardware store and find a really short bolt that will fit in there. then use a dremel to cut it even shorter.

Dont go and get rid of your rear O2. If you dont make those simulators up correctly (assuming you would build one) you can burn your car to the ground. The worst that will happen by not putting your rear O2 in your exhaust is a CEL.

Does the apexi unit have a bung welded in for your rear O2 sensor? Whats the problem here? As long as you soak it in penetrating lube a day before and get a good wrench on it, it should come right out. Ive had to use a pipe wrench before and it didnt mangle it enough that it was unuseable. Use some penetrating lube multiple times a few days before, heat it up a little with the torch, and wrench that mother right out.

I've heard of the resister getting extreamly hot doing that mod. Any merit to that? A guy awhile back posted on another forum asking why.

I didnt skimp out on the resistors and mine gets pretty damn hot. I'm going to take it out and get a resistor than can handle more amperage. I personally think it should be changed on vfaq.com for a higher rated unit.
