my throwout bearing took a dump on me today and i don't like the clutch i have at the moment so i figured while i'm in there i'll replace the clutch. i can't decide between the act 2100 or 2600 pressure plate and then if i should get the disc or 6 puck. ride comfort isn't as much of a concern as performance and reliability. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What are you power goals? What budget are you working with?

Are you definately going with ACT? There are better options in my opinion, I am running

"I have put at least 2000 miles on the car since the rebuild, with a South Bend TZ Kit: HD Stage 2, and fidanza flywheel, and its been great to me. The combination of the stage 2 build and the kevlar disk with stock pressure plate feel is amazing. Great daily driver combo build. " - me LOL

Southbend is a great alternative and can really meet the needs of any power goal not requiring a twindisk.

i'm looking at the low to mid 300hp range but right now i'm stock. i'm on a moderate budget right now i guess. i'm just worried because i've heard that certain pressure plates may be the cause of crankwalk and that certain setups wont really allow you to shift at higher rpm. so i wasn't really sure what to go with and i was looking at ACT because it's one of the most commonly used from what i've seen.

i've never driven a dsm with a stock clutch so would it be softer or harder compared to exedy stage 1 or 2 (i forgot what the previous owner put in mine)? i'm use to my old mustang so i kind of preffer a stiffer pedal feel.

A car I did a lot of work on had a southbend clutch and pp. It was really soft pedal feel but had really smooth engagement. It held the power of an 18g at 20 ish psi. When we did his engine swap the pressure plate and flywheel looked brand new after 5000 miles.

i'll definitely have to check them out then. looks like it's going to be cheaper than what was looking at originally. thanks.

how often do u think you will beat on the car, dump mine a 6k on a act 6puck unsproun with welded diff and soild engine mounts..but i dont worry about having to put a clutch in it , i can replace an axle faster than the clutch..

if u plan to baby it but hold higher tourq u can probly go with a less gressive clutch the 6puck is what i went with and love it

i honstly dont like the soft peddle feel,

2100 and 6puck :thumb:

i was looking into that setup but wasn't sure which disc to go with. i still have alot more research to do. i'm just trying to get some more ideas before i go out and just buy the first thing i see.

I believe for that power range you would be good with a stage 2 clutch, but me personally, I prefer the short pedal range of a stage 3 clutch.

I should be pulling my trans this weekend and it looks like i'll be going with a southbend clutch. Thanks for the help guys.
