I'm looking at a Bullseye Performance T04B V-trim. I'm thinking for simplicity's sake, I'm going to get the non-watercooled version, since I absolutely abhor jacking with the water lines when removing or installing turbos.

My question is, can you just block the water lines off? There wouldn't be any abnormalities if you just capped both ends off, correct? I'm trying to picture it in my head, but are there any items down-line of the turbo that need the coolant to pass through them that will get no coolant if both openings are blocked off?

Thanks.

Yeah, it wouldn't be hard to loop them with a hose. I was just thinking if capping them off wouldn't hurt anything, it'd be cleaner than having a hose running around that hot turbo. I have some extra brake line hanging around... I might bend some of that up and route it that way and just use the hose to connect the lines.

I have that turbo, When I did the install, I didn't think about looping them. I just snapped the water line that goes to the water pipe/turbo, I broke it off pretty close to the pipe, Clamped the end together with vice grips, The put a little hose over it and a bolt in the other end of the hose with a little clamp holding both ends on. Then the one on the neck I just put a little bolt in there and jb-welded it in, I havent had a problem with either of the two yet :) OMG

Cool, thanks for the reply.

Just wondering, how are you liking the turbo?

Just wish I would have bought it before buying a small then big 16g :)

I have a thread that is something like " I really need help, evo 16g or t04b vtrim" I cant remember the exact name, But there is alot of information and pictures in there

Oh, OK, I read that thread, but didn't remember that you were the OP. :)

That was one of the threads that convinced me to buy the turbo. :D

Lets face it how long would the turo last for? Your cutting the life of it by more then 1/2
But thats just my 2cents

Most Semi truck run oil cooled center sections and those things last a long time. The only time that watercooler center sections are need are for those people who do not know enough to allow their turbo to cool down before killing the motor, which is why DSM come with water cooled center sections.

Heh good point John, the water cooling is there for the oil, not the turbo per say :).

If you turbo time, which you should anyway with an expensive turbo, this is a non-issue IMO.
