first off i have searched the following and have not seen any situations that were like this

So i just put a new motor in my car, i was trying to start it andit was turning over fine then i realized something might be wrong with the timing, so i made sure the timing was ok, when i was tightening the alternator back in the rachet hit the ground on the alternator. I heard something from around the battery and thought for sure i blew the alternator fuse(have done that a few times). but the fuse looked ok and i replaced it anyway. when i went to turn the car on i was getting no power, no safc, no radio, no tt, and no fan which is hooked up to the ignition. i replaced all the fuses on the battery and checked all the fuses i could. so im not getting any power to the ecu, i used a multi meter and tested the current coming to the ignition and it was reading 12volts. the headlights/dashlights work, and the interior lights are ok too. i really cant figure out why i wouldn't be getting any power when i turn the key

so i actually took the car to a shop and they got it to turn over but were unable to do anything else. when i went to pick up the car from the shop they tried to show me that it was turning over but when they did, it did not. so appearently the problem is intermittent. does any one know what could have happened? or what things could cause this?
