2G Need some insight from HX40 guys

Okay, so as of right now I have 2 options for my HX40 purchase and need to know what is the best route to go.

The first is a 6 blade hx40 brand new in box for 600.

The second is this turbo lab upgrade for the same price.

I will be running the .55 BEP housing and E85 and 9:1 compression pistons. Also have a tial f38 gate with 12 psi spring.

Just wanted to know what would be the better choice. I'm looking to spool under 5k for sure and trying to hit the 550 - 600hp mark.

Also wanted to know it with the turbo lab upgrade if I would have to machine the .55 bep housing or not. Thanks a lot guys.

Yeah I have the same hx40 upgrade from turbo lab, you will definitely have to get the Bep housing machined.

I have a 6 blade hx40 in the BEP housing matted to an fp manifold, almost the exact setup you're describing.

I get full boost (28psi) at 4400rpms.

I haven't had it fully tuned yet or dyno numbers.
Hopefully next couple weeks I'll have it back up and running and be able to provide you 93oct and e85 info.

Just for reference I had a 6 blade hx35 in a bep .55 housing prior to the hx40 and i was seeing 52lbs/min at same boost levels

Going larger than stock 60mm in the BEP housing doesn't make much sense to me. I had the .70 T3 housing and floated exhaust valves at 9k'ish with Kiggly HD beehives at 37psi. Presumably from exhaust back pressure. Spool took a hit going from 60mm to 67mm for me. Hard to say how much since I'm auto with a fairly high stall. I was able to run more boost if I kept the rpms down, but with the 67 you may want the rpms if you have cams to flow up top.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like I'm just going to get the new 6 blade one. I really don't need anything bigger anyways. Just figured if ask since they're the same price. I just have to call tomorrow to make sure the new 6 blade one is a 60mm compressor wheel
