Hi i just bought a 99 gsx and i want to get a bigger turbo for it. My goal is a streetable 12 second car that can use pump gas. I want a 50 tirm turbo but im not sure on which turbo to get theres so many of them. Anyways im on a tight budget around 3500 for everything maybe more if needed. Anyways heres the parts that im looking at 255lph fic fp, 650cc injectors, apex afc2, turbo back exhaust 3 inch, sbr fmic, mbc, intake, and a sbr -g50. Is that all i need including the supporting mods. Anyways i still dont know what bov and im not exactly sure if thats even the turbo i want. Do most 50 tirm turbos just bolt up to the stock exhuast manifold or will i have to get a new one.

The 50-trims with Mitsu-style exhaust housings will bolt up.

You will probably want to get an AFPR with that pump.

A nice, cheap, 1G BOV will be fine.

You will more than likely need a logger to tune with.

ive searched high and low but i still cant find a clear understanding on how to identify crankwalk can anybody explain how i know what crankwalk is?

If i tell you what crankwalk is/how to identify it, you have to tell me where the AWD dyno is, OK?

Crankwalk is where the crank moves longitudinally (sp?) in the block. This messes with a lot of things in the engine, it destroys your crank angle sensor, leading to a failure in timing, destroying your motor. This is caused by a thrust bearing failure. This is more common in the 7 bolt motors than the 6 bolt motors. Theories include crank machining and thrust bearing casting errors caused by Mitsubishi.

If you have any more questions, I would be happy to help.

EDIT: I just re read your post, I can't read. If you have a manual trans. it is pretty easy, it is identified when you take a left turn and the clutch pedal sticks to the floor. There will also be a ticking noise, which should come from the right side of the block. Automatics are less prone to crankwalk due to lack of clutch.

Is that everything i need to support that turbo in the list on my first post?

apex afc2
turbo back exhaust 3 inch

mbc
intake
sbr -g50

No, only if your a good driver, and the seat of your pants tuner. :thumb:

I think your still going to need a down pipe (wouldn't hurt), boost gauge, bov, clutch, flywheel (lightened at least, wouldn't hurt), egt (wouldn't hurt),
Something better for fuel control, like Dsmlink or a Kedriver chip with the AFC and Logger, or even the Maft translator with the AFC and Logger

I think your going to need more then 3500 bucks. Are you going to do your own labor? Parts+Shipping+labor+tuning= Alot. Though 3500 would get you real close to your goal.

Crank walk sucks :thumbdown Just do a search for 2g crank walk or better yet just go to www.vfaq.com great site with lots of info on DSM's.

I have to say that if you dont want to go with a dsmlink...Then you absolutely need a Keydiver chip. When you get the larger injectors, this chip will make your ecu use them as if they are stock 450cc. It makes tuning sooooo much easier, my idle is perfect and deceleration with a lightened flywheel is no problem...runs like stock (except at WOT ;) )
Mine changing the boost gauge into a knock gauge and many more features are being worked out....stutterlaunch,nlts,etc.
Food for thought.

dsmlink will solve all tuning issues and negate everything else.
I have a Keydiver chip and an afc for fine tuning. <---very happy with this
Keydiver =$125............... dsmlink=615
eprom ecu=$250 .............. eprom ecu=250
safc=175used
------------------- . -------------------
..... $550 ....................... $815
..
So you have to weigh it out.....i already had a safc, i got a deal at $200 for the ecu, so i only spent $325. I dont plan on changing injectors ($20-25 for Jeff to burn you a new one)
I like my setup and its all i want, but that doesnt mean anything for. ;)

Wow, I don't have much to say for the post but you guys are pretty close to where I live (naperville and madison). I live in Janesville, WI. Madison is really close, I think naperville is probably 2 hours out. No idea where paddock lake is.

Gigaah.
