Ladysmith,
i have a 91 laser turbo..its in ruff shape...i need a 1g AWD for my 2.4 project..with a blown bottom end as i dont need the bottom end ..just the head and all other engine parts... theres a guy who wants to trade me his 90 talon AWD stragiht up for my car..my car has about 1500! in body and paint work needed...205 000 km's and u can smell gas in the oil. LOL

So im really considering this...i get 2000$ in november so i can grab the block and pistons, get it machined and swap it in.

So im wondering...the guys engine crapped out cause the water pump failed. He was going aroudn the block slowly and it over heated..and died..then he tried to start it once and it wouldn..then he left it.

So what are all the possibilties...as i need the head for my swap..and the turbo would be nice?

Thanks guys!

Oh, sorry. I mean what are all the possible things that could have been damaged...like pistons fried the cylinder walls, crank bearings spun to shit....you know? like what are all the possibilites of things that could have been damaged by his pump failing.

Thanks

Wayne

hmm, probably seized pistons, spun bearings, possible valve problems, alot of stuff can happen when your oil pump goes out. nobody can say for sure what is going to be wrong. but the engine will be rebuildable, as long as you have the cash.

water pump...and i was hoping the head will be fine..cuz thats all i really need on it..besides for various engie parts. I just dont need the bottom end.

Well it really all depends on how long it ran hot. If it was just for a second. Like he saw it running hot then shut it off right then. Then you may luck up, and only need to get the head machined. As far as the turbo it should be fine.

why would i need the head machined from that? I was thinking it would cause mainly block, pistons and crank damage.

???

Thanks

Wayne

Ok so i found out i was under the wrong impression...the head will warp under that kinda heat...great LOL.
