Nice build, I was wanting to do what you did with the floor in the hatch except maybe mount the fuel cell under the car. And build some little fins etc. type of crap to make it more aerodynamic than a block sitting back there.

I was gonna mount my cell under the floor but to be NHRA legal it needs to have a tube frame built around it and also needs a firewall built around it.

I figure it will be easyer to just bolt it to the floor and then build a firewall over it.

i like the car, the gauge cluster looks nice, wanan build one for me, also the headlights, makign thenm stay down, and the lightbulb shine through, i got the exact setup on my 90 gst, it actualyl came like that, if i could only close my pop up lights on my 1.8 and do the same it would be good

Darn NHRA is pissing me off . I keep wanting o build my car one way, and if I ever want to be allowed to run it at a drag strip I have to change my plans.

Yeah when i'm ready to start running my car I will probably have to add a cage re install my whole nitrous kit and add a cut off switch in the rear with my battery.

I actually removed my rear mounted battery setup and went back to the factory setup just so I could make a few pass's on the blown HG before I got sent back to Iraq.

I'll be damned if I am drilling a hole in my freshly painted car just to install a dumb (imo) kill switch on a car that is not planned to ever run faster than a flat 12. IMHO it should depend on what your ET is but whatever I don't make the safety rules.

So I am going to have to go to a low mounted light weight race battery in the front when I get the engine rebuilt.

Yea NHRA rules are a pain but hey what you gonna do. I want to run a hawker battery up front aswell but im going to have to get a bigger battery a mount it in the back with a cut off, i think the hawker would be to small to run in the back and up to the front. But i want a light weight battery. So idunno what im gonna do with that.

Today i got that big wavy spot on the pass. side rear quarter all finished up and quick primed, and some more preping to the engine bay. I still never got my dam income tax in the mail yet! , its taking way to god dam long. I need to order S&W 10 point and the paint! Im at a stand still here...

Ill post some pics tommaro of the rear quarter, before and after shots.

Other than that havent done much.

Well the other reason I am going with the light weight battery mounted low up front. Is it's weight. You better beleave that copper cable your going to use to hook up the rear mounted battery is heavy. Not stupid heavy, but it's more weight. So while yea you are relocating it. Your still adding weight, unless like you said you went with a light weight racing battery in the back. And then good luck starting it .

Here's a rendering of the car, made to see how the different colors will look. Personally i really like the gloss black hood and hatch. Especially with blacked out tail and head lights.

very nice build man...i just picked up a 92 talon tsi awd that i plan on gutting also...this thread has given me a lot of good ideas...i dont plan on competeing with mine though...more so just a fun all around street car....

Just curious, what exactly do you use as a seal/weatherstripping around your sheet metal work? Ive just recently started working with sheet metal myself and I cant seem to find that exact rubber trim at my local home supply stores. Thanks.

I would say some kind of auto supply store would have more of what your looking for. I am pretty sure they have universal weather stripping thats cut to fit. Silicone works also

The rubber trim around mine is simply for looks and will not seal out water, etc.
Advance auto sells seam sealer, or you can use black silcone or urthane, 3m window weld, etc. Just use it on the bottom under the car.

Im pretty excited, i got some small pieces of the car painted. I did them first to see how the paint goes on ,like test peices, and they came out awsome!!..

After i did them, i prepped the engine bay and sprayed it... Came out niceeee.

The paint looks black untill you get some light on it. I love it! I cant wait to spray the rest of the car. Ill get some pics of the car in primer as well, just needs alittle more wet sanding and it will be good to go.

There always are all faded and cant read them on every car anyway. So it and everything else on there was removed, Gotta admit it looks clean tho!
