when i tune i tune for timing advance, i want it to drop till my peak torque then go up steadily... but it seems that the more boost i add, the more leaning out i have to do to get it to tune that way...

the more boost i run, do i want it to drop at peak torque but at for say 8 instead of 5 and increase to say 18 instead of 15?

but when i try adding fuel i just hit fuel cut and gotta lean it out....

even tuning for 18psi on 450cc injectors i still had to lean it out not to hit fuel cut
l

can someone explain what im doing it wrong i figured id be adding fuel by now instead of taking away :-/

Evo 3 16g ported with 34mm wastegate, 2.5" O2 Elim. turbo back exhaust, HKS SSQV BOV w/ 3" GM MAF and MAFT, S-AFC II, pocketlogger, act 2100 clutch with xACT light flywheel, BPR7ES plugs with 8mm plug wires, SBR MBC, 190 fuel pump, FMIC w/ short route piping, boost gauge

Those are your mods right? You are running 18 PSI on 450cc injectors with a ported EVOIII 16g?? You should watch out man you will blow your engine. You are causing very lean conditions. You should get a logger and see what your injector duty cycle is, I bet its over 100%.

Anyway when you tune you should try to get 18 degrees of timing advance by the time you hit 7000RPM. Anyway before you attempt to tune any further, get yourself some 550cc injectors at LEAST. I recommend getting 650cc injectors than tune your car. Either you spend a few hundred now or pay thousands later in engine rebuilds.

no im not running 18 psi, i just did it trying to test the waters to see what i was dealing with... i have pocketlogger and it dont tell duty cycle or pulse width.. i have it turned to 14-15psi and tuned... and i am putting in 660s as soon as i can get it tuned right with the 450s at a lower PSI what i want to know is why am i taking more fuel out the more boost i run?? i figured it would be opposite

well im using pocketlogger from pocketlogger.com i didnt see it on there anywhere under my log options

Hey, i used to have that pocketloigger program for my 2g and it doesnt tell you anything about duty cucle. Also, when you tested running 18 psi how did you not hit fuel cut? When i only had 450 injecors, whenever i hit like 16 psi, it would feel like the car hit a brick wall, its not good to hit fuel cut. LOL. Also, of course the more boost you run the more fuel your car will use.

Hitting fuel cut has nothing to do with injector IDC or whether you're supplying enough fuel, at least not at 18psi with an EVO3. I suspect boost leaks being the reason why you need to lean it out in order to avoid fuel cut.

where can i have a boost leak? i soapy water tested everything :).... and epoxy'ed around the tb and tb elbow, and at the bov flange so i know im not leaking... could my FMIC be leaking or something?

Did you pressure tested along with the soapy water or did you just spray them at idle? If you did a test, how much pressure and for how long was the system able to hold when testing from the turbo inlet?
