Damn that came out really nice. Did your spray paint it or powder coat?

Ive actually found spray paint works better than powder coat.. ive donr both and my powdercoat one looks spiderwebbed under certain light

Do you guys use high temp clear? I'm going to paint mine soon but I want something protecting the layer of paint.

Looked better silver. You can see the swirl marks. I have yet to see a shaved vc that doesn't look homemade.

You have to send it to the right vendors, the. They come out good. Detective coatings does shaved valve covers all the time and they look perfect! He shaved my valve cover and power coated it. Can't even tell it was shaved.

This was my first one I'm gonna start doing another one today . I just wanted to get the depth of the letters down and I wanted to try out the paint ... I'm thinking if I use a high temp filler primer it would look alot better..... If your cover looks spider webbed u need a new coater and as thick as powder coating is it hides the cut marks ...... And I'm gonna use a finer bit next time I got a few buddy's with coated covers that I'm gonna take 5 thousands off the letters so the alum shows through

Hey I'm not knocking you. For a first attempt it's pretty good. I had a few over the years, homemade and professionally done, and even on the pro job I could see a slight waviness in the right light. Not to mention it supposedly weakens the vc, which as we know these things are already as thin as a Pringle.
However, I noticed the worst colors to use are matte finishes. They show any flaw. I'm preferential to wrinkle black or wrinkle red, and I think the shaved/ wrinkle combo would be sick. I've personally never seen it on a DSM

Looks good, a little hand sanding with a sanding block would have taken those swirls right out. But its look good.
This is corect... you can also use a light coat of bosyfiller if youre going for perfection... personally unless your making a show car swirls wont matter when you lift the hood up anyway.

I like the shaved look!

Thanks for the input I'm gonna be doing a wrinkel red one for a buddy and yes you are correct about the block sander the next one will be alot better I'll keep this updated I also just picked up a lathe for cheap so I got a few other thinks I wanna try making IE
Alum shifter bushings, alum shifter base bushings, alum motor mount inserts so I'll keep this updated

This is my first alum shifter base bushing
