Ok I just got a 91 eagle talon awd that supposedly has a stage 4 6 disc sprung clutch in it and a new used tranny. The PO installed them himself along with the timing belt and oil pan gasket. When the car is started the motor shakes violently and will not go into gear at all. First I thought it was the master cylinder so I replaced it then that didnt help so I went to the slave cylinder that wasnt it either. I now am going to pull the trans and see if this is the problem if there is anybody that has experienced this let me know. It almost seems like it might be the internals "maybe" a rod bearring but fingers crossed its not and its the clutch installed wrong any input would be great Im at a loss until I pull the tranny. I also have searched and everyting about clutches seem to relate to bleeding well Ive done that and have decent pressure at the pedal and the trans will go into gear with the engine off sooooo.....

First things first, the motor shaking violently might have nothing to do with you having problems with getting it into gear. I would start by checking spark, having a misfire will make the engine shake as well.

Now I would talk to the P.O. See if he shimmed the clutch fork pivot ball. When putting in such a heavy clutch you need the most throw out of that baby to disengage the clutch.

Watch the video on pivot ball shim first, then watch the clutch pedal adjustment video. At this point I would also switch back to an OEM throwout bearing.

Ask the PO if he had the flywheel changed, and if so had it been stepped properly? Were the shift forks changed when the new used trans. went in?

If you can talk to the PO to try and get a good sense of what was actually done.

thanks for the reply I found out what the deal was with the tranny when I pulle dit yesterday. There were no bolts at all in the tranny bell housing. The only thing holding the trans in was the dam tansfer case. The flywheel had spun around inside the bell housing and cut a groove into the aluminum. I got some bolts today and will be trying to get it back running tonight.

Wow, seems like the previous owner had a huge case of "head in ass" disease.
