I bought a maft translator setup online a few days ago. I have it installed, but it didn't come with any instructions or directions on how to tune it. I tried reading up on it, but don't understand the 'percent' stuff. Anyone want to describe the basics? What settings should I run on 550's and a walboro 255 pump? Thanks

yea it was used. With it installed the idle got alot better. But when I push on the gas it sputters. Letting go of the gas, the rpm drops very low almost stalling...then returns to the normal idle:confused:

Search some More.. I know there is a pdf with the instruction manual at the dsm translator newsgroup (Yahoo).

Make sure you set the dip switches properly

Hope you have a pocketlogger and no boost leaks post MAF. Just like the AFC. You have to get your STFT's and LTFT's set before you can start tuning with it. And you need a logger to tune a 2G.

Yes, you need a pocketlogger. The best way to tune is first adjust the base dial. Go one click leaner on the dial than what injectors you have. (What number corresponds to what injector size, I forget, you'll need the document for that.) So if you have 550's, then set the base for 600 or 660. Get on the highway and drive 60mph, watch short term fuel trims (stft) on the pocketlogger. If they are lean (stft is showing +5 or +10), then turn the base knob one click richer. If they are rich (stft is showing -5 or -10), then go one click leaner. You want to get the stft as close to zero as you drive at a constant 60mph.

After that, stop in a parking lot and let the car idle. Again watch stft for idle and adjust the "idle" knob of the translator accordingly, if the logger is showing rich, then adjust 1 or 2 clicks lean. If the logger is showing lean, then adjust 1 or 2 clicks rich.

Those instructions were posted in the yahoo group, and in my opinion easier than what the original 6 page document stated.
