wel i have searched and searched, but everything i can find is at least like a year old. i was thinking of running maft pro to tune my gsx, but really cant find any good info or reviews on it. if any has any feedback on it i would like to know your experiance with it.

I ran it on my Dodge Stealth RT/TT for about 3 months and like you information of the product is vague. There's hardly any technical support and there's a ton of wiring to hookup. If I were you, I'd look into ECMLink There's tons of support and a forum dedicated to it.

The Maftpro is not an extremely popular tuning option for dsms. Many just get dsmlink for 2gs. It seems to be popular in the grand national community. I have a friend that uses it on his gn. He uses the target a/f ratio with his lc1 wideband. He also uses speed density as well as the boost controller feature which seems to work very well. It has some datalogging features too. He is very pleased with it. You may need to get a eprom chip if you plan on running larger than 650cc injectors as im sure it hides airflow like safc and the original maft. Have you looked at the maft gen2? its $200 less but doesnt have the speed density and boost control features.
I would weigh its pros and cons versus other tuning options to see if this will fit your needs. It is pretty close in price to dsmlink if you go with pro.

dsm link woluld be like 800 dollars for me to run cause i would have to get an eprom ecu first. i was tryin to find something to tune with that i wouldn't have to go the hassle of findding an eprom first. dsmlink v3 does look well worth the money though compared to like aem or something. any ideas on something a little cheaper, like maybe emanage blue.

If you were to get your ecu socketed. You can either purchase an eprom burner($35-100) or Moates Ostrich($175) and use Tunerpro or TunerproRT(real time editing via ostrich) It is free to use and the bin and xdf files are on the Yahoo DsmEcu forums. You will have full timing and fuel control, injector compensation, etc.

i dont have an eprom ecu so how would i get it socketed, what would you say about emanage

Emanage is another option that you may have a hard time finding dsm specific info because it is not extremely popular either. Megasquirt may give you some search info!

megasquirt i am going to be running it on my car its a full stand alone ecu for a good price

same price as the maft setup and has a lot more options

i really dont want a full standalone, im only goin to be running a 18g setup. thats just to much. i have found alot of people that love maft pro and since im not going to have some crazy 500hp set up i was thinkin it will be plenty for me. just tryin to get some opinions on it.

My buddy is running a maft pro on his 95 gsx and has no problems, wiring is easy and tunig is pretty much like afc. If you want to contact him hes on tuners also name is djordan, hes ran the maft pro in his Supra and now his GSX and is really familiar with it and its abilities. Im actually gonna run it on my new 90 tsi because its easy to tune and has everything you need to tune plus speed density. For all the components new I am about 513.00 into it with the timing harness, speed density harness, map sensor and ait sensor.

does anyone else have any opinions on maft pro or the genII?

I think if you dont plan on running the speed density or boost control feature. you're better off saving the money and going with the gen2. Plus the sensors for speed density are another $100 as well as the boost solenoid is another $50. Gen2 will work with 1g,2g or gm mafs

yes you can log with a lab top connected to it. You have to download the maft pro version. Its is posted on the fullthrottle web site of how to do it. You can add timing cotrol but your going to need a eprom ecu. A keydiver chip from Jeff programed for the timing control. Its and additional charged for this. I paid 25 bucks. Its not listed but you have to email him with request.

im trying to avoid the hassle of doin the whole eprom thing(should have bought a 1g). so with gen II and pro i would have to have an eprom to controll timming.

Ya, you gotta have an EPROM so that you can have it socketed to be able to use that timing control feature, and I believe the advanced spark at WOT option... both features that are only available with the Maft Pro.

I just bought Maft Pro because I got it for an extra $50 over gen II, with all the cables and everything. Plus I'll take advantage of the Speed Density mode further down the road.

I have heard that DSMlink isn't as good for the 1g as it is for the 2g, plus I wanted to be able to vent to the atmosphere, so I went with the Maft Translator. Plus I can have a chip made with most of the cool features that DSMlink allows, my setup isn't going to change anytime soon.

So why not get the Maft Pro, use it with a GM maf, get an EPROM later on when you find a good deal or whatever, and set up for Speed Density, because thats the only mode that allows you to use the timing control feature.

im really just looking for something cheap, reliable, and allow me to run my 18g setup with decent results. im looking for about 375ish. i am not looking for an all out drag car or anything crazy, just a fun sreet car. drag racing is for my bikes. im kinda thinkin of just using the reg. translator cause i think it will meet my goals, but not 100% positive yet.

It probably will meet your goals just fine. I'm shooting for about the same hp, and the pro is overkill for me. But I got a good deal, and its not going to hurt to have those few extra features that may help me in the future. I would just opt for gen II over the first translator, you can get a used gen II on Ebay for the price you would pay for a new gen I.

The plugs are the same on the translator box itself, although my Pro has an extra connection to hook my computer up to it, to tune that way or to download updates for it. They are always upgrading the software for more features.
Go to fullthrottle.com, there you will be able to view and print wiring diagrams and the full manual for either one.. that should help you in your decision of which box to get.
