Here's where im at. I have a 96 tsi. prob is unknown, just got it not to long ago and has never really ran perfect. current symptoms: stutters when it gets to 2k, only vacuums at 10, fixed all the leaks with leak detecter, when the car is on u can here the turbo(as in whatever is in the turbo), shaftplay up and down. my guess is the turbo is dead, so.... how bad would it really run if that was the case? or if anyone know what else to check. ive already done full tune up. was the very first thing i did. even bout the whole gasket set from autopart store, and replaced all those.

to do a cheap and safe way to check a turbo do the following:

1) get it out of the car

2) use a "low" powered shop vac and hook it on the cold side.

3) you don't need to oil it as there will not be much friction. But you should be able to tell if things are working properly. If you hear crazy sounds (other that the shop vac) the turbo is probably dead (even if it spins the compressor wheel).

How are your connections to your sensors? Something as small as a frayed coolant temp sensor can completely mess up your air fuel ratio. Ecu can only see what the sensors are telling it. I would double check all connections while you are waiting on parts. Can't really hurt to double check.

After much testing and replacing, turns out ECU was the prob the whole time. Also had alot of other problems such as boost leaks, dead maf, and the OBD port still not working, but taking it to a buddy of mine pretty soon to resolve that problem. Thanks for all imputs and suggestions, they all towards finding a solution.:hellyeah:
