looking to buy 93 talon

hi all,

i am currently looking to buy a dsm, either talon or eclipse. one that i am particularly interested in, because of the close proximity to where i live, is a 93 talon with a tsi motor, running 18 lbs boost.

i emailed him and he sent me this about the car....

Last year we swapped out a 1.4 l engine an tranny for a 4g63 set up the TSI engine, befor I stopped driving it, it became hard to shift and disengage gears. Everything else was running mint there was how ever a slight colant leak from a hose it leaked about 500ml 2-3 weeks. The engine has about 160000 along with the tranny body as about 180 ish but doesn't really show it has 2 small patches of rust and interior Is mint. And those are the only rim I have for it and I've Never took it to a garge all suspenceion and brake swap was done by me and my dad and engine wise when I got it was told it could Handel 22 psi of boost but I only ran 18 psi on it. I hope this awnsered some question , come by and have a look just let me no a time and myself or dad will definitly show her to ya.

I don't know what the hell is all over the strut housing but it looks like it was parked under a tree with the hood open. I'm not convinced that its worth 2500 being a swap (I'm weary of swaps done by someone that I dont know and they don't even know the correct displacement of the older motor) and the transmission not shifting is a major negative. It could be shift cables or it could be something more serious. He is venting his BOV to atmosphere with a MAF setup, that might have to be addressed. I dont think offering this guy 2K is even close to low balling him. Battery looks clean though.

I wouldn't personally get that one either, one it's N/A so its not up my alley but it's your call. For 1900, you can't expect too much, have you looked on the classifieds here for a car?

Don't bother with the N/As, they're solid daily drivers, but slow as balls and not fun at all.

ok so i went and looked at the 93 talon turbo, and it looks and seems to run really great, turns out i actually know who did the motor swap and he does a great job....there is one problem with the car...it needs a clutch. how much am i looking at for a clutch for a car that is running 18 lbs boost and can run up to 22 lbs? what kind of clutch and how much am i looking at? where can i find one?

ps...not saying im gonna get the car, gonna have my mechanic look it over real good and everything, just wondering how much the clutch is gonna set me back...thanks

You're looking at about $300 if you want a clutch that'll be good for now + future upgrades.

300 american im guessing ...um any suggestions on what clutch to get and where i could get one if i do decide to get this car?
