kinda scared (hx35)

Well I picked up a mint condition 7 blade hx35. Right now I have a big 16g, comp 101200 cams, etc. Being awd and auto, it loses alot of power thru the drivetrain, and the 16g isnt doing it anymore, LOL. But Im just worried the my stock bottom end wont be able to handle the hx35. Ill ###### run 20-23 psi on pump gas. How do you think it will hold up?
 
Depends on the current condition and the conservativeness of the tune. 20-23 on pump gas is going to get you some pretty good numbers and really put a strain on those rods.
 
Well, my goal is just to have a fast street car. I want it to be reliable somewhat LOL. Should I just run 25 psi on my 16g or go to the hx35 and only be able to run low 20's, because Im afraid to blow it up? Maybe the 16g would be better, but then I will always want more. I just dont know...
 
Either invest in beefing the engine internals or put it aside for the future - or just sell it..

That'd be my opinion since you want to it to remain somewhat safely reliable.
 
You'll see less detonation at the same hp with the larger hx35. The spool will be similar. This is because less ehaust gases are bottlenecked at the turbine that would in turn increase combustion chamber temps (exhaust valve especially). Also there will be less boost required to see the same hp level, compressing the air more increases the aircharge temp greatly more than even lowering the efficiency of the compressor wheel. A turbo is more "pumgas friendly" when it can make the same power at a lower boost.

Detonation is what kills motors, not neccesarily power. A larger turbo is much easier to tune at 4-450whp than an evo3 16g at that 4-450whp level.
