I have a stock 93 Eagle Talon, 1.8 L SOHC 5 speed. It was driving perfect since I bought it. Last Thursday, I was on the way to get some gas. Car was on E. As I was leaving I went through 1st and as soon as I shifted into second, the car just died. I thought I had ran out of gas so I put 1/8 of a tank in and tried to start. It was turning over but not starting. I got it pulled home and in the process I tried to pop the clutch to see if I could pull start it. All I got was a raspy sound and backfires. Well I got it home and checked the fuel filter, and fuel pump. Gas is getting to the filter and to the fuel rail. I then thought injectors were clogged. Took those out and clean them up. Put them back in still no start. Checked the spark on all the wires and plugs. Spark was there but weak. Reaplace the plugs and plug wires. Still turning over but not starting. I check the rotor and distributor connectors and they aren't corroded or anything. I smell a fairly good ammount of gas under the hood when trying to start so I figure it has plenty of fuel delivery. I checked the MAS plug and I am getting the correct voltage. I also tried to start without MAS plugged in. I checked the timing and it is exact. I have no clue what to check now. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried the batter? Your alternator as well it may be caused by the battery going dead because no charge is coming from the alternator.

I figured the battery was just fine cause it is turning over with no problems.. Its just not starting. I bought an alternator a while back like 5 months ago, I dont think it would go out that quick but I guess I could go get it tested... Any thing else that it might be?

Would the coil pack plug be the one that plugs into the distributor closest to to the strut tower? I know that the coil pack on my car is internal. Also I had a similar problem with a couple of wires coming from that plug one time. It was also keepin the car from starting. All I did was put a couple of wire nuts on the wires and the problem was fixed. That the first thing I checked but this time it wasn't the problem.
