Intake Manifold Gasket

In my pursuit to find my idle surge problem, i'm going to replace my intake mani. gasket. My car is not really running that good anyway, so this may be the problem. Is there any special things i need to keep in mine when doing this job. Any other parts needed, and what all do i need to remove, my haynes manual tells me to take off a lot of stuff, is it true all that needs to come off?

Any help? I'm getting the gasket monday morning, so the job all needs to be done flawlessly and the car be running by wednesday night.
