Going to replace the orange with blue in the 2g.. are the bulbs orange or is there some transparent plastic piece I need to remove that is making the instrument cluster and a/c panel emit orange light?

ive done it and ive had problems with them a couple months later. They all work good at first then slowly flake out on me for some reason. I used the resistors and everything. On the instrument cluster only half of it would light up due to an unknown voltage problem(maybe i needed different value leds). Just my .02 make sure you get a spare cluster and dont change the little other lights(brake, CE, ABS, rad, signals, srs, etc.)

If you are just putting gauge overlays on you will be fine. But you can't just swap the stock incandescent light bulbs for LED's or anything like that. Unless you bought a bunch of those little rubber covers for the lights. Then it would work.

i had overlays too. I just wanted to change the odometer lights to blue so it didnt look tacky. I dont think the electrical tape is the prob. Its an insulator so it shouldnt

I decided to just replace the bulb with colored bulbs. I wanted to know if the stock bulbs were white with a orange transparent piece on the cluster that turned the stock to orange or if the actual stock bulbs are orange. The bulbs I purchased are supposed to not fade over time. I was originally thinking of just doing LEDS but the hotspots make it not as good looking IMO.. also the heat issue.

Yea the orange didnt fit the theme of my car and I originally put the blue reverse glow gauges you can find cheap on ebay... I mean they look hot but a little ricey and they eventually burned out...
I plan on putting leds back there now. I have a friend with a tracker who put LED's in place of all his stock instrument cluster lighting.. You just have to get the bulb number and theyll be pretty much direct swap ins, he ordered his LED's off of ebay i think. His hasnt had any issues yet, the LEDs he has are suppose to last much longer and the heat shouldnt be an difference vs the stockers.
