Ok...we just got about 5-6 inches of wet, crappy snow, and on my 2nd attempt at making it up my hill my neighbors came out and pushed. While I was being pushed up the hill I noticed that my car would lose power every once in a while. When I made it in my driveway I looked at my guages and my temp guage was at the redline. I shut the car off, and popped the hood to help the cooling process. My exhaust manifold was glowing orange, and coolant was boiling. I don't know if I should have shut it off so quickly, but the temp guage scared me. Now 15 minutes later it's done boiling and the manifold is no longer glowing. The guage is at 3/4 and I'm hoping I didn't fvck anything up. This post is open to any replies, but please keep the flaming to a minimum.

my first guess would be the thermostat. Nothing too big of a deal. They aren't hard to change.

Hope you didn't blow your headgasket, crack a ring land or burn a valve.

Just went out and checked on it. The overflow isn't full anymore. I started it up and everything seems fine. Still have to check my oil though. Other than possibly low oil I think its gonna be OK. I thought T-stat too, but I was on it pretty hard for about 2 minutes. Back and forth between 4 and 6 grand. Never overrevved it once. Thanks for the quick replies though.

As long as the temp stays constant, just let it idle for awhile. This will help to even out the temperatures of the head, block and turbo and will help to keep your head from warping due to hot spots.

make sure your fans are cycling on/off . the sensor that turns the fan on in my 95 AWD stopped working on me, so as a quick fix i hard wired the fan.

My clutch is doin just fine, thanks. Although it does seem that I am leaking a bit more oil than usual. Guess we'll have to find out.:thumbdown

I was thinkin' about hard-wiring the fans. They should kick on when the engine is over a certain temp, right? They didn't after I shut the car off and left the key turned. They should work like that, right?

my friend and i were driving around in his 92' prelude for a couple hours id say and when he turned on his car, the fan automatically kicked on. im guessing if his turned on automatically, then yours would have to definately do so too since ur engine was overheated.

I did the same thing with the Talon this past winter in about 9 inches of snow. It was fine after I let it idle for awhile and cool down.
