A friend of mine asked me to accompany him to the race track and I was thinking about seeing how my Eclipse GST does down the drag strip. My GST is automatic so I'm wandering if there is anything I should do to launch the car for the best time aside from just mashing the gas pedal.

I'm a total newb to racing and just built my car for a fun street car. The transmission is stock and the car has some minor mods including a 16g turbo, fmic, cai, turbo back exhaust, dsmlink professional tune, 255 fuel pump w/ rewire, 1100 cc injectors and running about 20 psi boost.

If anyone has any advice or a "what to expect at the track" / etc. I'd appreciate it. I believe we're going to Route 66 in Joliet, IL.

Brake boost it at the tree. Hope you're taking good care of your trans though. I'd recommend an air to air cooler if you don't already have one.

What he said^

But don't get "burnt down" at the line. Let the other lane stage first if you are not racing and go when you are ready. Don't stay on the converter for more than 5-7 seconds.
