what is a good way to paint leather interior?

i know its a wild question... but my car the rear seats have been painted red and its driving me crazy..

do i try to lightly sand them or what?

thanks!

the leather was painted?? if thats the case i would look at replacing them. Do you have pictures? Another option would be looking into staining.
ill get one of my rear seats in a minute but my door panels have leather on them also.

For the door inserts, I don't know about painting or stripping the pain from them; however, you can remove the inserts and rewrap them.

Are the rear seats painted also? If so you just need to replace them, unless you really want to repaint them.

figure that they are painted to begin with and no one sits back there i could get away with painting them who ever did the painting did a great job though

Wipe them down really good with alcohol and try black vinyl paint it should take care of your problem. Take the time to do it nice with multiple coats dont try to get 100% coverage your first coat. If that doesnt workout looks like you needed new seats anyway. :)

What do the front seats look like under the covers?

HOLY HELL. Wow. Sorry, but geez.

Ok heres how you can get your car looking normal again.

Door inserts as said you want to wrap them not paint, looks better.

For leather, plastic, vinyl----

1. SEM Soap
2. SEM Plastic & Leather Prep OR Vinyl Prep
3. SEM sand free for the plastic or just to SEM color coat for leather or vinyl. There are videos on doing this on SEM's website.

Color Coat Chip Card

Yes it works on leather, if it didn't they wouldn't make a leather prep product for the paint.

looks good man, good job

HA HA Jax is a chic.....man :tease: just pokin at you.

I had a friend that got a truck that a paint bucket had went through the back glass and coated the entire dashboard and everything. Paint came out of the CD slot when we ejected it just to give you an idea how bad it was. Took the dashboard out along with trim pieces and used a decent sandblaster to knock the paint off and get back down to the plastic. You have to use something gentle on the plastic though like soda or walnut shells and be not get too aggressive.

I have used dupli colors vinyl and fabric paint to get rid of stains and such in carpets and on faded interior plastics. Seems to work fairly well. Colorbond might be another option too. I wanted to try colorbond but couldn't find it locally.

I personally would strip the paint off, rewrap, or replace them but that is just me and my OCD.

BTW TRY MEH I salute you for getting rid of the red! Thank you for your dedication and service to tastefully save yet another " R word styled" DSM.
You might want to check out Jax's pics on her interior. Pretty cool.

Joann's fabric store. They have THOUSANDS of patterns and different fabrics. If you don't have one local to you, hit up their website.

Actually, I'm gonna be that guys and shoot this down. A long-lasting headliner replacement will use real headliner material with the foam backing preinstalled on it. It's a much better way to get it done, since that way, it'll actually last.

and I'm going to be that guy that tells you that Joann's has the real headliner material with the foam backing in all different colors (normal colors) LOL

They have the headliner material AND foam you can add to any other fabric of your choice.

I did it to my own headliner, and used a thicker foam to recover my door panel inserts as well. 2 years in the Florida heat, and it still looks like I covered them yesterday.

Lmao

herd some good things about this! how much should i buy to do both rear seats?

One 4oz bottle will be enough to put 2-3 coats on the rear seats and have a LOT left over.

Yea i seen the foam padding the other day when I went their looking for something but didn't know anyone that had used it. if I can find someone to let me use their spyder headliner for a patern I want to make a black suede
