Help with a stalling problem

So I have searched around a bit and haven't really seen this question, probably because it is a little vague. There is a guy selling a 98 gst, with a 6-bolt swap. Here is what he says about it:

MAF NEEDS HOOKING UP
NEEDS NEW SPARK PLUGS
NEEDS A OIL CHANGE (DIRTY)
MUFFLER HAS A HOLE TO BE WELDED
CAR WILL RUN AND DRIVE IF YOUR FOOT IS ON GAS
BUT AS SOON AS YOU LET YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS IT WILL SHUT OFF BECUASE OF THE MAF BEIN NOT HOOKED UP.

So can you tell from this description what is wrong? Is it most likely just a problem with the maf being hooked up wrong? Thanks for the help.

Maybe someone started to install a GM blow through MAF and it isn't connected to anything.

Maybe the air intake hose is damaged or missing.


Perhaps the wire connector is just unplugged.

did you already buy the car? if not find out whats all been done to the car and what is all wrong with it might help you find the problem a lot quicker if it was just a simple issue it probably would have been fixed already before u seen it.

Sounds like this guy doesn't want to sell this car very badly. Those are all very easy fixes. Changing the Oil and plugs can be done in 15 minutes for around 50 bucks. Also, there is really no way to plug in the MAF incorrectly unless the harness has been cut or perhaps the MAF is missing altogether, but even if that were the case he should be able to buy a used one online for around 50 bucks also. I would ask the seller to fix all of those items before I even considered buying the car with the exception of perhaps the muffler.

Plugging the MAF in is as easy as plugging a power cord into a wall socket. If it's "unplugged" as a descriptor for the car, there is something more going on. Find out. You don't want to inherit other people's problems.

I second that to the 1000th power. I bought my GSX from a kid who said it ran fine..and it did, until I put 100 miles on it, and clutch master cylinder went, having to limp it 100 miles more home, and then, it had 2 egg shaped cylinders...word of advise..Check out any problem with a electron microscope before purchasing anything.
