i know there's a few threads on hot start issues however mine is just weird and after months of replacing shit i'm out of $$ and so confused.

i have a 90 Eclipse, gsx/awd, dsmlink and my profile should be up-to-date for more info. My hot start issue is once the car warms up(180º+) it wont start again. It will stay running just fine but it wont start. I'm getting no spark and no fuel. AFPR reads it's getting correct PSI just not to the cylinders. I've tried a NEW coil, 3 PTU's and 3 CAS's, and today i tried 2 other ecu's as well.

Today we tried several things to narrow it down but the results don't really make sence to me and i need some input. We tried the new ecu, came from and left in a running 90 eclipse, and we let the car warm up to normal temps and i shut it down. Tried to start it and no spark/fuel :( We pulled my friends Temperature sensor and plugged it in and the car started. Even though my temp sensor was reading fine in dsmlink. Eitherway we warmed up the sensor to 180-200º and i got the same problem. No fuel no spark :( We then tried plugging in a different PTU. the car started :hellyeah:. i killed the car and tried it again and no start :( same problem no fuel/spark. All this was done fairly quickly so the car didn't have time to cool down.

I'm so confused. i'm hoping someone can give me some ideas. I'm just not motivated to keep toying with this crap anymore.

do you have your Fuel pressure solenoid on? is it connected

try to check your fuel pressure regulator , check the fuse box as well if some of the fuses are bad

check your coil plugs if they are tight and ok , maybe they loose connection when hot.

just try to throw some ideas

good luck

Does the car smoke at all while running? If so what color and how much? Also have you checked your oil for gas/coolant in it? Compression test?

no it doesn't smoke, i just put a new stock headgasket on when i redid the head. The rings are new so i'm only getting 100psi but it's not had a chance to seal so i'm assuming that's still ok.

no my stock FPS isn't on the fuel rail, not sure if i threw it away or not LOL. How do i "check" my AFPR? i'm checked my fuses several times. The plugs are tight, i've tried a different set of plugs as well

check these i hope you will solve the issue

Hot Start Problem Fixes

again try to get a new temp sensor dont just try to get from your friend as it might be faulty as well, think about it, it makes sense that the ecu is allowing too much fuel due to the wrong reading of the temp sensor.

if it does not work, try to roll start the car and let us know what will happen.

if not check your crank sensor

good luck

i've done all those "fixes" they don't work for me. The sensor i got from my friend we pulled from the car he drove over, think about it, it makes sense that it's not faulty LOL. i plan on trying a "new" temp sensor but still. if i try to roll start the car and it doesn't work it'll be out in the street for over an hour till everything cools down. Plus there's not much of a hill around to try that. again i've tried 3 CAS's

hhhmmmmmmmm :hmm:

i will wait for your feedback once you change the temp sensor , and once you can roll start the car, you have to give it a try to see what happens

if you are complaining about the roll start and there is no hill to do it , then just dont fix your car just keep looking at it :tease:

:notgood:

Correct me if Im wrong but I think the 1g's have 2 different temp sensors, everything you have described makes it sound like the car isnt getting proper signal from a temp sender, thus sending it to idiot mode where it will prevent you from starting the car when its seeing an over heating problem.

*Sidenote*

I saw a 92' have a problem similar to this that was not temp sender related, turned out to cracked ringlands, when the engine was cold would fire up, after running for awhile and hitting NOT it would have trouble staying running, and would not start untill it cooled off again, basically the thermal expansion caused a drop in compression drastic enough that the engine could not be started.... not saying this is the case since that car had fuel/spark just putting the info out there.

:hmm: ok well help me understand then. i just don't get why trying to pop the clutch will help with an issue of no spark/fuel? if i try it or not i still don't get what info i'll gain from it

so i found a work around for my issue. I went and got a new coolant sensor, tried it and same thing. So i plugged in the old one and just zip tied it down. So it's reading the temp under the hood, and the car starts every time now. :D

is there any down side to doing this? it fixes my issue and the car idles well, i drove it around but it still needs a tune so it dies sometimes if the rpms drop too fast(shifting in neighborhoods)
