2g GST - I cannot get the oil feed line off of the oil cooler housing. I've tried just about everything and I'm running out of ideas. Theres not enough room to be able to get enough torque on it. Its extremely tight and I'm afraid im going to round it off.... Please help!!!

Have you tried heating it up yet? I had the same problem a month ago and Using my little pencil torche got it just warm enought that it finally broke free. Just a thought.

i dont have a torche handy....:(
Is the car drivable? If it can be driven, take it for a drive till it heats up and try again. It should get it hotter than any torch would.

Go to Wallmart, They aren't expensive. It takes the right tools to get it done undamaged. Otherwise you could always use an Ice Pick, Avocado and a Snorkle, make yourself a homemade bong (Half Baked refrence) and forget about the car for now.

Seriously though it should be about 5 dollars for a cheapy or 25 for one you can rely on.

The above could work too. But a torche heats to over 2000 degrees.

but i do have a wind resistant lighter that instead of having a flame come out its practically like a torche...guess i could hold it on there for a few??? i do have to take the small fitting out of the fat fitting first?

I was thinking of an apple bong or something.... ;)

Trust Me. If the car can be started it is the quickest and easiest way to heat up the turbo and exhaust. If it cant be, the propane tourches only cost about 12 dollars, but will take longer.

He's a proven member so he MUST be right. I have only 4 months on DSM's. I am a Licenced Acura Mechanic and Fist Class Certified Installation Specialist, I don't know squat apparently. A Torche Is FAR HOTTER than YOUR OIL COOLANT LINE. Arguing about this is rediclous to even suggest. Because I am a "new member" on this site, does not make me or anyone else an idiot for not signing up sooner.
Trust Me, 13 years Exp. and a 4 year degree says it's a possibility! I don't mean to start waves, I just can't beleive you think a tourch would take longer to heat up a fastener than starting up your car and waiting for it to warm up. and you think you oil temperature is hotter than a torche? What are you basing this off of?

WTF where the hell did all the new member and you are wrong come from. I am telling him from doing it time and again that it heats up faster. Nothing to do with Your status.
Mike
And different options is why more than one opinion is a good thing. And My bad, I just noticed it is on the oil cooler end.

Where did I come from? ATI Houston, Wheres your degree? No offence but with an average life of 80+ thousand miles how many oil cooler housing lines have you REALLY replaced?

Let's just say we agree to disagree and everyone else can have there own opinion too, It's off track, when you argued everything I said including the price of a torche! Cummon~!

Whoa...got a little defensive there. I would try driving the car kinda hard and then taking it off. Cause if it works, you don't have to buy anything. If not, get a torch or borrow someone else's.

I personally would go for the torch, trying to rush things with the incorrect or second best procedures with the wrong tools has always caused me more headaches than quick fixes. Propane tank+ nozzle is like 15 bucks, no reason not to get, youll probably use it on your car in the future, its nice to have around.

Of course. I have used Mine numerous times since I bought it 3 weeks ago and it is a lifesaver. But again, I just realized He was talking about the turbo end not the oil cooler end. :coy:
Mike
Oh well :p

Take it easy man, your degree means nothing to us here. There is people on this site with no upper level schooling and know way more than you about working on DSMs in general. Lets refrain from the pissing contest, what you know on this site is based on your helpfulness and what you contribute, at this rate you may get banned before you get any real mechanical respect from this site, degree or not.

are you removing your stock oil feed? if you are and replacing it with an SS line, just cut the damn thing. then use a deep socket with an extension to take it off

LOL.. didn't pick up that he was talking about the turbo end too.

but again, it should apply.. drop the turbo, cut the feed line.. then replace it with an SS line

Oh I agree thats a decent alternative. I'm glad you mentioned it becuase I didnt even think of it, thats what this site is all about, different inputs with different accounts of what works and doesnt work. Its all with good intentions, Ive personally never even changed one, but i know what it is, where it is, and a basic idea of how you would get it off.

Sorry for getting so uptight Mike! I appreciate the points you gave me earlier before this, though I don't know what they are for or do...

Its not a problem bro, like I said, I try not to offend anyone, and appologized if it did. The poor thread starter is going to come back from holding his windless lighter to the housing and wonder what happened to His thread. :p

another thing that would help alot is to get a bottle of PB blaster, its about five dollars at autozone or most auto stores. Spray it on and let it sit for about a half hour. Then if it still does not come off turn the car on and let it warm up because the heat acts as a catalyst for the PB blaster and should definitely do it for ya

Yeah I was taking the stock oil feed line off and replacing it with a SS. hahaha I tried cutting that damn thing but all it would do for me was bend!

I eventually just said screw it and go for broke so got and adj. wrench and tightened it sooo friggin tight its not even funny and just layed into it with all my weight and that thing screached once, made a loud pop and hten my hand went straight through that little plastic cover/shield thingy haha.

Jesus that thing was on there.

Thanks for all of the help :thumb:
