headgasket blocks ports??

im doing a head gasket change on my 95 eclipse gst and i noticed the new gasket has some of the ports block, any idea as to why this is? i bought a cometic one and thought it wasnt right so i went to autozone and bought a felpro one and it was the same, any input is appreciated!

Check that you don't have it flipped over the wrong way. (Front to back, back to front, etc)

I had the same problem a couple times and flipped it a few different ways and finally found the correct way it was supposed to go.
