I am having problems with my starter grinding during start up. I have tried everything I know of to try to fix this. I am looking for a good reputable garage to take this to yo get it fixed. I'm at a total loss with this problem. If anyone has any good shops they know of please let me know. Thanks

It sounds like the gears are getting bad. i can fix it but im just startring to open a garage ive worked on alot of dsm's. Let me know..:hellyeah:

I have replaced the starter twice and each time it starts fine 3 times then back to the grinding. My flywheel has some marks like the starter is hitting the side of the flywheel instead of going in the teeth of the flywheel. Let me know if you wanna take a look at it.

Hopefully the flywheel has not seen too much damage and thats whats causing the starters to flop out on you. This is a long shot and I doubt its your problem but something to consider. If the engie has been changed or overhauled and not assembled with the right flywheel it will never start without grinding. FWD and AWD fws are different. Check out your pos and neg cables going to the starter. Make sure they are in good shape.

Starter didnt come with any shims. I didnt think the old one was shimmed. The engine was not overhauled. It used to start fine then one day just started grinding. I checked all wires and they seen good

I cant tell anything else till i look at it if you want me to you can text me or pm me my number 717-404-7992

Sorry for the delay yes I finally got it figure out. It was a bad battery terminal. The wire going to the starter was not getting enough voltage. Sometimes it would have good connection and then next start it would have bad connection and start grinding.
