This review is for the Hafe cast stainless steel exhaust manifold for 1g and 2g DSM's with MHI turbochargers. I will be comparing the Hafe manifold to a 2g OEM exhaust manifold in both performance and design. The Hafe manifold is made from cast SS and the 2g manifold is made from cast iron. The Hafe manifold although made of SS is actually 6 pounds heavier. The Hafe manifold has the option of having a 38mm wastegate port drilled into the #4 runner. The Hafe manifold has a thicker manifold/head flange measuring 16.4mm while the 2g manifold only measures 14.7mm, the thicker flange will help prevent warpage of the manifold due to the extreme heat cycles of a turbo charged engine. The runners inlets on the Hafe manifold measure 33.85 x 53.11, the 2g manifold only measures 31.86 x 50.63, the larger runners will help make more power in higher RPM's when exhaust flow is greater. The outlet of the Hafe manifold has a 61.3mm circumference while the 2g has only a 54.2mm circumference. The Hafe manifold does not have a divider in the exhaust and the runners meet in a smooth transition, while the OEM 2g manifold has a large divider. If you have the tools I recommend more porting on the outlet side of the manifold, the walls of the runners smoothed out and the floor of the collector area can be flattened out more for better exhaust flow. The only downside about this manifold is that it does not have even close to equal length runner with the 2 and 3 runner being extremely short and the 1 and 4 runner being twice the length of 2 and 3.
