Im looking into buying an almost stock GSX, It is all stock except for catback, intake and hks bov. Owner says the car has a stalling problem randomly while driving, no specific rpm, boost, no rough idle, none of the normal symptoms.

The owner thinks its a bad alternator, I'm not too sure on that because he said it starts right up after stalling.

Ive read that venting a BOV to atmosphere on the stock maf can cause problems, is it possible that the BOV is venting so much air that the engine is running way to rich and flooding itself?

He is asking 1500, rest of the car looks good, Is this problem a deal breaker?

EDIT, Forgot to mention that its auto, so the driver isnt the problem

1500 sounds good as long as the shell is in good condition (strut supports and frame isnt rusted out). You can test the alternator. Car off- use a volt meter and check the battery 12.5V-ish, car running- voltage should go up around 13.5-14.5-ish.

Its not a BOV but i also dont think stalling is random. More information is needed. Does it stall when coming out high rpm back down to idle? does it stall at idle? while turning? only when the engine is warm?

Each one of those questions point to different causes. It will be easier to troubleshoot once you own the car (if you buy it) but i wouldnt say its a deal breaker.

There is rust on the shock towers, hole all the way through on the drivers side. I'm assuming that's why it's only 1500. It also has the defective black paint, it hasn't gone bad yet though, so I assume it's resprayed. I'm thinking it's not worth it now that I know the shock tower is pretty bad
