Well i guess it was my fault really.
My story...

Not that long ago i bought a 16g turbo, used, off a local dsm'er here off the forums. He claimed to have pulled it off a working dsm, and going for an upgrade. So i figured ok, a new 16g is rather expensive and a used would not be so pricey and i might be able to get some tips off the current donor. The guy, sold me turbo and refered me to visit RRE for the install kit for my 2g. After purchasing the turbo i went home all happy and started putting together an install kit with the local vendors around here, for the oil lines, and a fabricated jpipe. A few days after i managed to start the install, i was bothered in between several times due to a work call and to pick up a friend at the airport. My total install time was about 12 hours, keep in mind this was my turbo swap. Upon priming my turbo, I was happy to have "just" completed, with the first start up and local drive i noticed i wasn't building any boost. After numerous boost leak checks and other diagnostic checks, i was stumped on why i wasnt building any boost. I called the guys at RRE and they advised me to bring the car in. As much as a drive it was, i ventured out on the road with no boost, and fear that i plainly "just f'd my own engine some how." The guys at the RRE checked my install and tested my turbo, and after their tests they concluded that my turbo was bad. They complemented my on my first install, but said i needed a replacement turbo. They also told me never to buy used parts again, that most people say the turbo is good just to make some extra change for their replacement. The odd thing however is that the turbo upon my inspecetion seem ok, with little to no shaft play. I'm not mad, I'm just disapointed that someone would do something like that. Now i have to conjure up some cash for a new turbo, "yay." I will contact the guy who sold me the turbo tomorow because right now, I'm just mad. I'll post what happens... Has this ever happened to anyone else, and if so how did he/she handle the situation. Please help, also please advise me of a good place to purchase a replacement turbo thats not so pricey. Thanks guys.

Its happened to me a few times but i always just let it go because even with all the money i've lost ive still saved a whole lot more by buying these used parts.

Lol i sat here for a while thinking where the GS (420a) part of this came into the story. It didn't

same exact thing happened to me...i ended up getting my replacement at extremepsi. I spent almost 600 when i got ripped off so i figured i'd do it right and spend 900 on the mani and 16g with all the options

A 14b would bolt up the same as a 16g right? You could buy one of those for cheap and run it until you can afford to upgrade further.

thnx for the "nice" remarks. I will try to speak with the "guy" tomorow, as i am a law student i know that the terms of our sale included that the turbo was in functioning order and ready for install upon picking the the merch. Due to the fact that the product of sale was under 500, no bill of sale is require by law. I will get my money back! or file for law suit, I'm angry.

Any vendors out their feal bad for me and would like to give me a special deal on the MHI 16g?

Thanks guys, i will keep you posted.

If you're in a bind with money and you don't want to go with another used part I HIGHLY recommend turbochargers.com because they have prices that can't be beat and quality service/warranties.

At least you said he is local and not on the other side of the country, makes LOL filing a lawsuit a lot easier
