Does anybody know what the drive cycle for 2G gst eclipses is. I can't get my moniters to be ready. Thanx guys...

Give up.....Really.

I am assuming that you are attempting to set the readiness monitors for your OBD-II emissions test, since you failed the first time.........????

The only thing you can do is verify that the ECU has 12v power when the key is off. If I remember correctly, you are looking at pin 40 (?). If the ECU does, then you are screwed. You are going to have to go to the dealer and get plugged in the butt to pass emissions.

Sorry to put it that way, but there are those of us that have been going through this crap for years.

Some Eclipses have problem not retaining the readiness information after you turn off the vehicle. Some of the drive cycles require that you shut off the vehicle 1/2 way through the cycle which is what clears all the monitors in the first place. It's kind of like trying to iceskate uphill.......As in, you aren't going to get anywhere.

Your only option is to pay the dealer to hook you up to their MUT-II and force the monitors to set. They will then illegially run the emissions before turning off the car. Then you get a bill for anywhere from $80 - $140.

Sorry..... :(

yea that is exactly my problem, the pin for ecu power is 80 and it does have voltage there so i already went through that hell, i guess i will have to go though the devil for this one....it's funny though becuase i passed incpestion two times before this, oh well

could my car not staying warm all the time keep it from setting the readiness codes. I hear what your saying about them not setting on all cars but i want to make sure all else is well before i go to the dealer.

There is *supposedly" an EPA waver for the Readiness Monitors in your car:
OBDII Emissions Testing and the DSM - DsmWiki
Personally, I would swap in a 1998/99 flash ECU with the readiness tests completed to avoid the problem completely.
The complete drive cycle is listed in the 2G DSM CD Manual. Its quite a few pages.

Problem with swapping in a 98 ecu to a 97 is that it will pull an evap code. I know this because I had a 98 ecu in there and I put my old one back in to get rid of the code. There's supposed to be an extra sensor or soleniod in the 98+ cars.
