This is mainly for the Milwaukee area DSM'ers that I've been talking to in the Wisconsin DSM'ers meet and any others in the area. I've been thinking about going to the dragstrip sometime either this month or next and was wondering if anyone has gone there and can kinda give me a rundown on how things work there. I see on their calendar that they have "Fun Drags/High School program" nights, but wasn't sure if that was their version of like a test'n'tune night or if it were closed to the general public as far as racing goes.

Honestly, I don't want to run my car too hard because if it breaks, I can't afford to fix it. I already know I need a new clutch. I would just like to get a few runs in and log them on DSMLink and maybe try to get a very rough tune started, though. And if I happen to get rid of my "Slowest AWD DSM on tuners" standing, that wouldn't be bad either. :)

So, I was just wondering if any of you could give me some information on the track, and if some people want to get together and go out there, that would be cool too. I can always use some advice on how to tune and I hate going to things like this alone. I'll probably see a few of you in Wisconsin Rapids tomorrow afternoon, and I'll bring it up then. Thanks in advance.

The 25th of June they are having an import wars at GLD or for those who are unfamilar http://www.greatlakesdragaway.com/index.php?page=importwars It is next weekend but I will be there and its always a fun time, I will not be running but will be there all day hanging out! It would be cool to fill the pits with dsm's for once rather than honduhs? I believe it's 15 bucks per person to get in and 5 bucks more for pit parking, its a lot of fun to just watch! Keep an eye out for me white 2gb GSX with bright pink wheels, it is sorta hard to miss it!

I was at Import Wars for the last one...Good number of DSM's...I will only pass Tech tho if I can get my sunroof fixed ### I just have a hole there...I dono if the FMIC will be on before there, but if not, I still am aiming for high 13's with the stock clutch, turbo and i/c

If I race, I'm hoping for umm... low 15's. :coy: See sig and timeslip for info.

My clutch just plain sucks. I might have some of you guys sit in my car and see if you can feel what my clutch might be doing, and if it's okay, I'd like to see what your clutch pedals feel like, just so I know how it SHOULD feel.

Not only that, but my FMIC won't be functional by that time either. I still have to order pipes and have beads welded on them. That'll probably happen sometime next month or so.

I'll try to make it if my car get finished with paint, other than that I should be running high 14's :sneaky: ROFL if I ever get a chance to tune

MrBoxx how much you know about dsmlink? I have it in my car and really want to get some type of a tune. Otherwise I am stuck waiting till July 26th which is when I have my tuning appointment at AMS. P.S anyone need PTE 780's I need to step up?

So ya I am totally down for the 25th at GLD shall we start a list, I know its short notice but even if we get like 10 or so that would be sweet!

I know the basics. If I ran down the track about 3 or 4 times, I could probably get a rough tune started on my car, since it looks like my knock numbers are rare and less than 1 degree above 4000. So I could probably start leaning out a bit. Of course, I'd rather have it tuned at a dyno, like you're doing, but there are a whole lot of thing I need to sort out on my car before I have any professionals look at it. ;)

I might take those 780's. PM me with more info. :)

My car stumbles in the upper rpm's, I am guess it is because I need more fuel, I really need to get my wideband reinstalled to see exactly what is up. The car ran much better with the stupid chip than with dsmlink!!! I ran 11's on the chip but now that I put dsmlink in the car feels like a dog, so I am hoping that when I take it down to ams things will change. I have know idea what I am doing when it comes to tuning! So ya I will hopefully see some people at GLD!

Odd...If you have the settings in for dsmlink then theres no reason for the tune to be so rough...Even global settings and base maps should keep you from running crappy...

Stumbling in the upper rpm's could mean your too rich also, the wideband should tell you...AMS does wonders if you got the money, but trust me, they do charge a big buck

Oh I know they do good work but you pay for it. My whole motor and pretty much setup was built by AMS, I think my problem may be that I need to zero out the settings on my maft translator as I have been reading more, we will see. I actually think that it is too rich on the top end because my ltft go all the way rich when I get on it so ya its probably rich. Much to play with in the meantime!

Looks like I'll have all next weekend off, so I'll be at the track for sure. :)

So far:

Doug, if you want, PM me and we can swap phone numbers so we can find each other at the track, maybe park next to each other and see if any other DSM'ers come park next to us.

It's sunday, and as of now they are calling for rain so that sucks but we can watch it. What's wrong with your 1g? Also MrBoxx my cell is 262-470-0381 I will be there right away if the rain situation looks good and I will be doing the pit parking.

we did the waterpump so we had to retime it, and for some reason the marks all line up, but it is not boosting right and its whinning.

FYI, it is regular racing during Highschool Bracket Racing on friday nights (regular and HS take turns on the track). Also, about DSMLink, make sure you get your Global, Deadtime, and airflow set correctly. For you, it's definitely because of the Maf-t. If you don't already, get some kind of bar sensor, like GM 3.3 or AEM or something. They explain thoroughly how to tune airflow with this method on the DSMLink forum. Wideband is a big help, too. I would see how well you can tune it on your own, and then maybe take it in, unless, of course, you have the money and want to get it over with.

Well, now I know where the track is, how they run things, and have put a name to a face. It was nice to get out and see what some of the local cars can do. I saw a few DSM's put down some nice times, as well as a few DSM's and other cars who apparently didn't know how to race. :) There was a super nice Evo with green wheels and AMS stickers on it that ran a 10.4 if I remember right, as well as a Devotuning Evo 1-3? that also ran well. I was confused by the two Chevelle's that were at "IMPORT Wars" but it was awesome to see them run. The riced-out Civics were at best amusing to watch, but the turbo'd, stripped, caged, Civics and Integras ran great times.

All in all, I had a great time, but my wife and I left after it started raining. I'm not sure if the races continued afterwards, but I had bad recollections of the DSM Shootout and how long it takes to get the track back to racing condition.

I look forward to getting a new clutch/flywheel and taking my car there again, this time to race.:D

Yeah the races started up again and it was a good thing cause I needed some time to sober up a bit. The devotuning evo was a EVO 2 which was extremely sweet!!!

P.S GSX26 you live in Dousman? That is where I live I actually work right in town. pm me if ya get a chance!!

I'm glad you guys got good pics. My camera died after about seven races, just as a nice Eclipse was staging.
