I guess my last question wasnt specific enough, and since i just got bombarded with the search button trick :thumbdown which didnt TELL ME SHIT.

I am trying to see WHO is or has ran one of the Garrett GT series turbos on a 2.0L motor. What are you running and what are your opinions...

my supporting mods are: AEM EMS, Coil on plug, wideband, CDI, Sheetmetal intake, large FMIC, Tial BOV, etc. etc..

I am currently running the Buschur 475 and I am dissapointed. I have my pick of any Garrett Turbo I want (for free basicly), I am just looking for the one that would best suit my needs. I understand the FP 3052s are amazing, I dont have the funds for something of that nature.

Any help or Direct info would help.

thank you,
Rob

hes not an idiot....trust me

anyway, what exactly are you going for with your car?
whp
ET times
mph, anything in that nature would help a little more

I'd get an AGP.... They use the bullseye turbine housing. It is an on center design and symetrical.. #2 behind FP's size wise I'd recomend about a 56trim (race gas) for higher boost and around a 50trim (pump gas) for lower boost....

Also there is a BR580 which is just a PTE 56trim garret...

Thats what I was going to ask.
It depends on how much money you can put down on a turbo. If you cant afford teh FP3052 then that will limit you more to what your turbo options are.

You know what turbo I have and I'm happy with it other than the spool but thats to be expected.

thank you!

the deal is my dad works for honeywell, and hence honeywell owns garrett i can get a turbo for practly free. I am looking for DIRECT USE of garrett turbos. Not on a stroker motor, on a 2.0L. I am looking for a Mid 11second street car, approx 400 whp, and a decent spool time.

I am currecntly thinking the GT30R or GT32 are the approprate turbos. Built using a 56 trim GT40 comp. wheel, .63 a/r hosuing and a 76 trim turbin wheel. and possably having it oil and water cooled.

any thoughts?

Im running a gt35r with a 1.06A/R on my 2.0 liter with 9:1 compression. Its kinda laggy, but when boost hits at 5 and carries u quickly all the way to redline...Its a very happy feeling......overall im pleased, but if I was making another "daily driver", Id go with a fp big t28....yeh its a big difference from running a gt35r, but u get full boost at almost a hair over 2400rpm and it will put you into the 11's......on pump gas LOL :thumb:

Does it have to be a GT series?

It sounds like a 50 trim T3/T4 with a to4e cover and .68 hot side is the turbo for you.

It has to be a GT turbo because Garrett doesn't really make a T3/T4 50 trim. I suspect the GT30R would be about what you are looking for.

Why are running the 1.06 A/R housing? My friend's SCM61 (the non-ball bearing version of that turbo) hits full spool around 4,500 rpm. That housing is killing your spool time.

no nitrous except for a IC sprayer possably, I am looking for full boost no later than 4200-4500....

Yeah I'll agree the GT30 would be a good choice then. I've put the -14 cartridge on a 2.0 (it's the 35R comp wheel with the 30R turbine wheel) and it works great, but you don't get full boost until 4,900 with the .63 a/r housing.

I dont know if I'd do 1.06 A/R on a 2.4L

i was hitting full boost with the 1.06 A/R around 4 grand.....but then we added 16 degrees and it went from 446whp to 552.3 whp at the same boost level (roughly 30-31psi) but boost hesitated to the mid- upper 5k range........would you add another 1500rpm of lag, for another 100+whp??????..........why the hell does adding timing give u big hp yet makes u lag like a bi***......btw i have hks 264I and 272E degree cams...if that means anything

When timing is advanced, the burning of fuel is moved earlier into the combustion stoke. This transfers more energy to the crank, which in turn yields a cooler exhaust charge. The turbo spools relatively slower in this case. When ignition timing is low, the burning of fuel is moved later into the combustion stroke and continues to the exhaust stroke. In this case, the exhaust charge is hot and can spool the turbo relatively faster. Note that less energy from the burning of fuel is transferred to the crank in this case.

Back to topic...

If all you want is 400 whp with good spool, the GT30R with 0.82 A/R exhaust housing will do.

I am running the AGP Garrett T04E GT30 56 trim turbo kit on my stock 2.0L 7 bolt. I love it. Full boost comes at 5000rpm and shifting at 7500 keeps you in the powerband. Sounds laggy, but it's very streetable. It's at 20 psi right now untuned and it put 10-12 cars on an EVO from 60-120mph last weekend :thumb:

You know I got the wideband back from inovate now (it doesn't read 30:1 anymore ;) ) so if you if you want to really tune it just swing by the shop sometime.

Thanks Nick, I might be in this week.

DSM1kenobe - it utilizes a .63 A/R turbine housing
