Forza is unbelivable........i picked it up this morning on the day of its release. the demo was only 40% done so if you didnt like the demo dont let that stop you. as he said it is a newborn. and ppl on here are ALREADY comparing it right off the bat to gt4 the 4th of its series haha.

online is amazing. there is 0 lag what so ever. and alot more fun to trash talk the guys in the upper class cars from japan, while playing in japan, when you spank them off the line in a 98 talon. dont hat people.

and by the way you can create clubs online, where it keeps track of the top clubs on the net. I started one with a very unique name "DSMtuners" haha so if you have xbox live join up! my gamer tak is JamesonTSi by the way. add me or join the club! we will see you on the streets of Forza Motorsports!

Jameson :talon:

so it did come out already?

might have to get it tomorrow. there goes my social life.

Hey sounds fun Jameson... I'm just going to play GT4 and MGS3 and GTA SA on my ps2 and finish all my xbox titles. I've decided I'm not going to invest anymore money into the current generation consoles and instead just wait to see what Xbox 360 brings to the table. Plus, I've got some great AAA titles on both Xbox and PS2 that need to be finished so that should keep me busy the remainder of this consoles lifespan.

i think people are forgetting GT4 is on its 4th run. they are 4 games into the series, so they basically know what needs to be done, they have an engine that has evolved over the course of what, almost a decade?

forza is its first of a series. like the original Gran Turismo, its great but its just a newborn child. give it a sequel and a new platform using the knowledge gained in the first and it will be very good. Xbox in its (i think) 5th year is still not using the system to its full capacity. that says alot about a system where it set the limit so high programmers cant even reach it.

its unfair to compare a newborn like forza to a graduate with honors like GT4. even in its unfairness forza still gives GT4 a good run for its money. at least with forza it doesnt have a screen glitch and they finished it without pushing back the date a year or two.

i basically agree with this but this is forza's first release and i has many things over gt4.

i am not to sure how many mods you can do on gt4, but i know that on forza you can do motor swaps. I was bored so i swapped an rb26 into a 240sx. That was really fun without any suspension upgrades... I really like the game. I also started with the Talon. :talon:

ok i just bought the game and have played it for about a hour.

its pretty sweet. of course first car i chose was the talon. with the 3k leftover i put on the highes intake/exhaust setup and started racing. won the first 2 point to point races and got 6k and a celica racecar thingy. i then did shocks, tires. i then went into some AWD races and won 3 of those for 9g's and won a lancia evo thingy, i turned around and sold for 25g's. i then modded the fawk out of the talon. there are different turbos, and if you pick the biggest but dont have any support(tuning, intercooler, ignition) it doesnt let you use it as well as the turbo under it, so i did the supporting stuff then the big turbo.

then i started reading into the drivatar or whatever the hell it is, and started doing those. basically you do races and it learns how you drive and bases the driving line on what it learns about you.

i still havent driven the fully modded talon yet, but ill do that tonight.

Really fun game. The complexity of the visual upgrades is completely stunning. Gradients, custom shapes, warping custom shapes to create new ones, you name it. Each side of the car (sides, front and rear bumpers, top) allows 100 separate layers of vinyl graphics.

The model doesnt really matter seeing as how you can swap a kit on to make it more closely resemble the 2Gb. As for the people who dont have it and want some more of the details on it ill try to get into it.

First off regarding the physics engine (as everyone else is, i'll be regarding GT4 as the standard) when you hit surfaces they respond as they should. If you miss a turn and end up in the grass sliding out of control, you'll likely bounce off the tires with little more then cosmetic damage to your vehicle. If you brake and turn in too early though, youll smash your front end into the inner railing, which as someone else said could possibly knock your aligment off, and get spun around once or more depending on how fast you hit. Sliding your rear through a turn and accidentally clip the wall, expect the same to happen. As opposed to bouncing off the concrete barrier, tire wall, sidewalk, et cetera in gran turismo and just coasting back into control.

Damage, the best part of the game for sadistic racers. Draft up behind someone and dig into their rear quarter panel to send them headlong into one of the tracks walls, and wait for the satisfying crunch of bodywork and the shattering of the opponents window. Took that turn to fast and slammed into a guardrail after the apex, watch your front bumper crumple, and eventually sag. Get a little bit too squirrely in a turn, or showing off, and t-bone your car, watch your sideskirt break off and your paint get shot to hell.

Racing in the fast cars is fun, but even racing in a D1 class Eclipse is as exciting as racing the P1 Le Mans style cars. The action is great in the races, with the AI being relatively competive, though sometimes polite to a fault ( for a game. ) If you slam on your brakes infront of a AI theyll likely try everything short of throwing themselves into a wall to not hit you, come to a complete stop in a bottleneck and theyll fumble behind you to slow to a stop ( usually resulting in a hilarious bumper cars scene with the stragglers of the pack slamming into the other cars). With tracks ranging from fantasy urban circuts in Tokyo, New York, and Rio De Jinaro, to actual race tracks like Tsukuba Circut, Laguna Seca, and even Nurburing, the constant changes in scenery allow for a fresh expierence every series.

Graphics wise I think this game is right there, if not surpasing Gran Turismo. Add in fully liscenced body kits, hoods, spoilers, and rims that all look great on the models, and over 600 layers of vinyls/decals per car, the customization of each car is paramount. If you ever wanted to know what your car would look like red with a white stripe offset down the top, or what a carbon fiber hood would look like with your paint job, this is the game. The damage, as i've already gone into great detail about, is beautiful and a motivator to race cleaner laps instead of throwing your car around with no consequences like GT4.

Sound wise this game is hands down the winner. First off the cars sound relatively accurate from the get, but when you change the exhaust and intake the cars real start to sing, and sound modified, unlike GT4. The soundtrack is mostly vocal-less covers of the classic rock songs ( Iron Man for example, and a few other noticable songs thrown in with some originals i think ) but add in the custom soundtracks that you can apply to the races, and/or menu screens and you have a game that will never let your ears down.

Multiplayer. All i have to say is spinning your friend out going in speeds excess of 100 mph and watching him eat the guardrail can only be surpased by the same against some random kid screaming at you over XBox live ( which i've unfortunately yet to play.) With a ranking system called the ELO, which as the instruction manuel says is a ranking system that takes into account current ranking, probabilty of victory, and the effect of a loss or victory, into account when ranking you, things should be pretty competative. Once more as people have already said, car clubs, which just have to be amazing.

If you read through all of this, congratulations you have ALOT of time on your hands, and theres no reason you shouldnt immediately go buy this game ( and system if you dont own an XBox yet.)

I read through because I'm supposed to be studying for finals. ;)

Thats a good way to do it. Also just so you can see how powerful the decal/vinyl system is in this game heres a website with people who have made custom cars using only the decals/vinyls that you are given in the game ( no photoshop, no hack, no importing from other sources, et cetera just in game stuff. ) http://tabwin.com/forza.htm And i thought my pinstripes/fades were difficult.

So I decided to rent it. It's BADASS. I'm actually liking more than GT4, which is suprising considering I'm a huge GT fanboy. :)

WTF I don't see how most of those are possible. I don't see that many options for vinyls. And how did they get the car's more than one color? Like fading from one to another fronto back or separating the colors with a stripe? I don't understand.

The vinyls options are astounding. On the first page of vinyls, in the bottom left, you will see a gradient logo. This is what you should select, as the vinyl will give the impression of a fading paint job. Check out a few of the ones I've created. All of these began with single-color paint jobs.
