For anyone that has dealt with or knows about alternator whine coming through the speakers, please help a fellow DSMer out. I've tried sooo many different things to correct it. I've relocated my ground, i've gotten new RCAs, i rechecked all my connections. Please help

Try a ground loop isolator. Like $7 at Walmart. Through your speakers or sub(s)?

i tried it. while it got rid of the whine, it made my speakers sound like complete shit. the quality became really bad actually

I think there's three separate noise capacitors on the stock DSM wiring harness, and the exhaust ground strap is supposedly also for noise suppression ( WTF ).
Start with stock details and go from there.

make sure all of your components (including the battery) are extremly well grounded. There is a how-to somewhere around that shows you how to make your own grounding kit. Re ground your stereo to a good body ground, and any amplifiers you may have. If you are running an external amp for your mid-highs then try grounding your head unit and amp in the same place. I've actully grounded the head unit and amp in two different places, and used RCA's with the wire down the middle to connect the two grounds together, and bam, noise was gone. It's just a matter of playing with things.

What do you mean excatly when you say you ran the wire down the middle? Could you elaborate a little more?
Thanks
I had this same setup before with no noise problem. Then my amp went bad so while i was getting that fixed, i had to change my battery cuz that died. So, i got a cheap autobarn battery and had to change the clamp for the terminal on it. This is the only thing that was different from my last setup when i did not have any noise. Now i read somewhere that the car's electrical components can pick up noise and transmit them through the speakers, but do you guys think it could be the cheap battery or the different terminal that caused this??
