Alright well i havent been to the track b4, i usually just street race. But i decided to goto yesterday. Well first run i step on it and the car wouldnt shift outa first ( i shifted from L to 2nd and then it just stayed in 1st) but after i let off it shifted and i wa fine (it was bouncing off the rev limiter alot, i didnt know what was going on, ran a 18sec 1/4mile . Well i got back in line for another run and i hear a loud sorta ticking or banging sound. I had alot of guys around and we eventually narrowed it to just my downpipe rattling against something. So i get upand next run I just do it half throttlw to see that everything was alright. I ran a 15 flat. Came back, everything seemed fine. So i line up again, 3rd run I try a boost launch and i hear a pop but didnt mind it, launched and went, half way down track my car slowed down drastically and my electronics shut off (ran a 15.3) and i get to the end to turn around to get a time slip and i see my power steering doesnt woork, at this point im freaking out and my radiator light came on, CEL on, AT tmp light, SRS light all come on. And i say im done and i go park and open hood and check my fluids, seems i didnt have any radiator fluid at all (ouch, im a dumbass) and remeber when i said i heard a pop when i boost launched =....well i dont have a alt belt anymore, i think it snapped and broke off. Could this be the troubles im getting (no power steering, eclectronics messing up, srs light)....well i filled up my radiator with some watr and let it run. I turn on my airconditioning and my turbo timer shuts off....turn air off tt comes on....strange. Then i turn on lights and car stalls out....then after 5 min of running my safc keeps restarting over and over and all u see is it say SAFC over and over....... so i called my dad and he tied a rope to the car and we towed it home for a hour and a half going 30mph:cry: im going to purchase a new belt today and hope (cross fingers) that it will be it.....also buy some radiator fluid..... anyone have any ideas or comments? thanks:talon: :dsm:

Like Canadian TSi stated >> if you have no alternator belt, then your battery is being drained by trying to run your electronics without a constant charge from the alternator. If a belt doesnt fix the problem, check for bad connections (all connections associated with battery, alt, PWR steering...etc) after belt replacement. Also, disconnect your battery (allow ECU to reset) and retighten terminals. These are just a few common suggestions.

I wouldn't consider this a big problem if it doesn't lead to some serious cash outflow.

BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME OUT!

Also the alt belt drives the water pump which has the power steering attached to it. I would not run the car with out that belt at all. cant move the water to cool the engine. I think putting that belt on and your car should be back to normall. Also might wanna check your tranny fluid. Sounds like it could be slightly low if its not shifting properly.---just my 2 cents-----Dave
