Felt like it was going nowhere, weird smell PROBLEM

today i was at a light, I got on it and it felt like it was going nowhere, sort of like when my bov totally disconnected itself b/c i forgot to tighten it, i pulled over, and i smelled something burning i think, it was a weird smell, i keep having thoughts that it has to do with my clutch...dont know. Anyways it drove normal afterwards, i kept getting whifts of that smell though. The clutch also felt like it disengaged a little furthur than usual...please help.

Sounds like you smoked the clutch a little bit. If it's on the way out you will start to notice the revs will go up when you punch it, but the car won't feel like it's accelerating. Usually this is followed by a lingering burnt cluctch smell.

i hope its just that, i suspected that b/c this is the car I learned to drive manual on...go figure i can fly through a clutch faster than i can fly by a v6 mustang...

by the way, since this one is on its way out, what is a good clutch for me to replace it with??? I'm not looking to spend too much money, i need something that will last, its my daily driver, i have fun with it a lot too though.

An ACT 2600 is THE best clutch you can get for an AWD DSM. It will hold up to rediculous 6k rpm launches and will last a LONG time. I've always used the 2600 and so do lots of others. A 2600 should run you about $375 and you will need to get your flywheel resurfaced for another $50 or so.
