As many of you know I am swaping out my engine for a JDM 4G63 N/T next week. I have ordered a new Injen Intake, a Full set of Unorthadox Pullies w/belts from extreme motorsports, and I have purchased a set of '93 Turbo cams. I was considering getting my intake manifold ported and polished. Also, I have a new ehaust manifold sitting next to me that was going to replace the slightly cracked one on my old (Now busted) motor. I was thinking that I could get that ported and polished before installation of the engine as well for some small gains. Are there any gains to be had from a ported/polished intake AND exhaust manifold? Ballpark figures?

Will this even help my flow/hp increase at all, or is it not worth the effort?

I apprecaite your responses!!!

heck yeah you notice gains from intake being ported. Exhaust on the other hand i wouldnt touch it. for the simple fact a shop will charge up the ass to do it since its cast iron. And you want get any big gains out of it. Id say save your cash for some headers.

well the only reason I ask is for the exact reason that no one offers an aftermarket header besides pacesetter, and i wouldnt touch that with a 100000000000 ft poll. My friend had one and it cracked 3 times all in different areas. Amazing stuff they produce. Thanks for the replies.... I'm gonna try and get an intake manifold ported and polished somewhere here in town.

My P-setter has held up terrific. I spent extra and got the ceramic coated one, it looks great, fit great, and hasn't cracked after 4 months of Arizona heat. Plus they offer a 3 year replacement warranty if it does crack, for 239 bucks...you can't ####ing beat that with a stick. :thumb:

Archer also makes a header for our NT's..or at least they did, my friend Brando had one on his 91 GS but that was more than 2 years ago. Try searching around on google for it.

Hedman makes one as well...you can find it here Hedman . The tubes don't look half bad and it's cheap as hell from a good manufactuer...but the collector size is only 1.5"...that's the same size as stock...so almost any gains you get from the header get lost at the small ass collector. I guess for the price though you could chop off the collector and fab a nice 2.5'' one up and weld that bi*** on there.

As far as porting the stock exhaust mani...leave that alone. It's cast iron and its gonna be one huge PITA - an expensive one at that - and the gains will be very minimal. You will also have to ceramic coat it or it will crack like crazy after the port work. :dsm:

I ported and polished my 2g ex mani. it was actually very easy. It was my first time and it came out great! If you want to save some money then I would suggest if you have the tools to do the job maybe try porting everything yourself? :)

according to gsgoinfast, your cars dont have exhaust manifolds. who's tellin the truth?

i get from gsgoinfast that i should ask questions, and when i ask a question, i get that imma trouble maker??????? YEAAAHHHHH

I've had my Pacesetter 4-2-1 on my car running higher CR in the AZ heat for over a year now. I bought it used from a guy in AZ and it bolted up perfectly, sounds great, and has given me absolutely zero problems. :thumb:
