Hey I want to install my EVO III o2 housing but I don't really know where to start. Well I need to buy gaskets from somewhere to fit or where did you guys get yours? I know the o2 housing is under the DP but do you think it will fit onto an Apexi GT Spec DP? Any help appreciated.

o2 gasket is metal so u can reuse it ....just open it up with dremel to fit the larger dia o2.

o2 housings are after turbos and before dowpipes.

i would get new dp gasket tho since they are avaliable at ## local auto store.

It sucked today to try and get on. I took off the heat shields and started taking off my downpipe. Everything was good until I could not unbolt the upper housing bolts because there is an AC line in the way and another one wont not come off, I can only fit a wrench in there and my ratchet will not fit. There is barely any room to move but thats a DSM haha. I had to put everything back to together so I could drive to work. I don't know what tool I could use to take off those bolts, I work in a tools store so I guess I could look around. I plan to try again on Thursday morning and hopefully I can do this successfully. I am still wondering if the o2 housing will clear the alternator. I have a feeling I may have to take off the whole turbo to even get to the bolts.

I don't know if you're going to have this same problem or not, but my downpipe is made to fit on the stock O2 housing which has a smaller flange than the EvoIII housing. I went to install it, and realized this so now I'm waiting to go to a muffler shop that can weld the bigger flange onto my downpipe. If you get the downpipe off first you should check this to make sure you're not going to have to bolt it all back up and take it to a shop (or take the downpipe to a shop).

I have an Apexi GT Spec DP and it matched fine to my stock housing. I heard the flange on the DP is supposed to match to the housing with no problems.

First of all, if you're having trouble removing the housing with the turbo on the car, then most likely your best bet is to go ahead and remove the turbo and O2 housing all at once. Some people have had better luck with this than others, but regardless, a couple of the bolts will be a real PITA to reach.

An alternative to reflanging your DP if it doesn't match up with the O2 housing studs is to take a dremel or a die grinder and widen the flange holes. Keep in mind that this is going to be a fairly time consuming process.

Also, the EvoIII O2 housing discharges at a slightly different angle than the stock housing. Again, you should be able to use the same DP, but be prepared for it to fight you when the time comes to fit it back on.

I know I must take off the turbo and exhaust manifold. The thing I'm worried about is the housing rubbing on my transfer case, but I've heard from most people it goes on with no worries. Wish me luck, I hope the flanges meet up.

Yeah I think thats mainly an AWD problem because i've seen other threads with the xfer case problem and it was all awd's. Score 1 for the FWD people! Pics will def. help though.

It's right by the xfer case because the housing is much larger than stock and I was told it will rub on a bolt on the case. I'll have to get some pics when I get under it again.

The angle of the EVO3 O2 housings flange is quite a bit different from the 2G and causes alot of downpipe designs to bang up against the x-fercase. I had to put my downpipe in a bender and tweak it slightly to get the correct fitment. In hindsight, I wish I would have just ported my 2G and called it a day. For the money and majorly insignificant performance benefits, it wasnt worth the hassle especially when I plan on switching to a FP turbo this year, and it will become useless. Gotta love Ebay.

Is it really worth putting on? I dunno I'd say so but you can always use it with a bigger turbo right? BTW I didn't get this off ebay LOL this is a ported 2.5"

Ah, downpipe, not O2 housing. Thanks.
