Hey all, I've got a BIG problem. Last night I parked my car in my driveway and came back outside to start it no more than 15 minutes later. But it wouldn't turn on. All of the accessories turned on and I could hear the fuel pump turn on. But the engine just won't turn over. The starter isn't even engaging. Now, earlier my check engine light came on and my scanner threw a P0335 code. I believe that's what it was, the check engine light turned off before I could scan it again and the scanner didn't pick it up. So, does anybody have any idea where I could start? The starter's been replaced recently so I don't think that's the likely problem.

First, do the obvious. Check all of your fuses.

Next check your clutch switch. I am assuming it's a manual transmission.

Check for power to the input to the starter. If that doesn't light up your test light in crank mode, then you have a power loss to the starter. Also, sometimes bad battery connections can cause these very same things.

If the wire to the starter is not getting power then you will have to trace back.

I don't have my manuals at home, and won't be able to look till Monday for the color codes and such. Perhaps someone on here has those and will give them to you.

Good Luck

Thanks for the help. I'll check tomorrow. Man, that's gonna suck. It's 15 degrees outside right now.LOL So where exactly would you suggest to test the connection at for the starter? Should I unplug it at the starter and check for power there?

No. you can leave the wires on the starter. You will still need 2 people to do this test.

I need to know whether or not the little wire on the starter is getting power. If it is, then probable starter problem. If not, then loss between ignition switch and starter.

Let us know.

Gooc Luck

Before you start testing, clean the battery terminals and sand them down to expose metal then tighten them down, often it's as simple as that.
