I just got my car running and I have noticed that it is missing under a load. It runs real good in first gear. In second gear it starts to miss just a little. And when I put it in third it really starts to miss. This is under hard acceleration. I have brand new wires and plugs I have checked them. I guess I was wondering if anyone has ever had to replace the coil? I am going to try unplugging the Knock sensor and see if maybe something is rattling causing it to retard the timing like my NOS lines. Anybody that has had any odd problems would help. Thanks

Deff test that coil. Very common to fail once you get some miles on em. That would be your first bet.

If you dont have a manual or the testing procedure i will try to find it for you tomorrow. If you dont have it by then ill post if for you.

Are you setting any codes?

I have a Chrysler service manual for the Talon. I haven't checked it for tesing procedures yet. I have a new coil from the parts house. But they had to order a wiring pigtail because the new coil has a different plug. No codes. But I am seeing the timing change when it misses. i just thought maybe somebody might have had to replace a coil. With this same problem. Or had this problem and it was some other weird Sh*t.

You might want to look into the map sensor (most likely) or intermittent signal from the cam sensor. Coil pack should be anywhere from 11 to 13kohms across cylinders 1+4 and 2+3. It's unnecessary to disconnect your knock sensor; it will become useful if something happens to your engine.

EDIT: If this is happening while you're spraying the Nitrous, then I would get a FCD (for positive intake charge) and a Walbro 255 or 190 to be on the safe side. Wideband wouldn't hurt if you don't have one...

There are 2 different model for coil packs, there isn't any need for you splice in a new harness. They probaly ordered you a 97+ (or is it 96+) coil pack. The pins for the early model are flat if my memory serves me right.

It wasn't the coil. I replaced the spark plugs just to see if I got a bad new one. I ran a fuel pressure test while driving the car and the fuel pressure is fine. I ran a vacuum test while driving the car and it's ok. I checked the junction under the intake where the crank sensor wires run through to see if it was loose. also the J/C(3) and J/C(4) where the cam and crank sensor wires run through. Nothings loose. But i drove it a little more and noticed that this miss gets worse the warmer the engine gets. It's not so bad at 195 but at 202/205 it starts to miss pretty bad. But here is where the problem gets weird it cleans up at 4,000 RPM if I can get it above 4 grand the miss goes away. Anyway I am going to take out my post cat o2 and install my FAST wide band setup and see if i can see fluctuation in the A/F ratio. I cleaned my injectors before I put the engine in on an Ultra sonic injector machine and they were OK but that doesn't mean that some trash didn't somehow get into one of them I guess. Anyway thats the update. Everyday I run a couple more tests and drive it a little more. i don't know if i can today cause its raining. Thanks for the input.
