ive been doing some research and i want to only do the engine once and avoid damages. heres what i have

6bolt with 16g turbo and not sure what else ill have to see when i get it

i am wondering if the bottom end on a stock 6 bolt will hold up to a set up with an hx35 turbo and s2 cams and 1200cc injectors with stock intake and head. maybe some other bolt ons along the way.

i know the 6bolt has more strength than a 7 bolt but wasnt sure if i was pushing it a little but would like to save money if possible. im picking up my car today and plan on replacing all bearings rings anyway so its gonna come apart. im open to all suggestions.

I can bolt on about anyhing but I am far from a tuner. But the short answer is yes, should hold up fine. But why would you want the stock intake? One of the cheapest upgrades and such an easy restriction to dismiss.

What will you be using to tune?
Are you upgrading the fuel pump as well?

Also what's the condition of the motor? If you are tearing it down anyways it would be a great time for a rebuild. Then you don't have to question whether it will hold up or not.

I agree ^^. If you have the motor out or want to only tear everything down once I would recommend replacing everything as far as maintenance and more. spark plugs, gaskets, etc so you know everything is done. just my .02

well i plan on changing bearings and rings but my main concern was if crank, rods, and pistons should be done too. i am trying to be in the 450+ range to the wheels. i plan on a 255 walbro pump being installed. intake isnt out of the question either. i picked up the car for 1600 and it was smoking pretty bad but was able to drive it to my shop though. not sure but pretty sure valve seals or turbo but i havent gotten into it yet. i also know ill need valve springs to go with my cam choice.
i forgot to mention i am tuning through a dsm link

i just went back and read that thread and that is impressive that the 6bolt bottom end can put that amount of power out and hold up. so i thinks its safe to assume that mine should be fine if i freshen it up with rings and bearings. ill probably still use arp bolts and such though.

Definitely possible, but I would still do rods and pistons...unless you specifically want a stock block. I mean, they did get through a full season of racing...but opening the motor isn't fun like putting on bolt-ons...to me at least haha.

What version of link are you running? You can run E85 with that setup :rocks:

I'm not sure of what compression ratio is on the stock 2g pistons but I had the same plans for power and bought EVO pistons that are 8.8:1 and are good for a lot of horsepower safely but it looks like you have a game plan together I think safety is related to fuel completely a good fuel system can make a huge difference Good luck with build
