I wanted to come out, but I got stuck in Lubbock, and by the time I got back to Carlsbad it was 3:00pm... by the time I got my car ready to drive over and found the place, it would have been dark. :( Maybe another later this summer...

Is was cool meeting all of you guys.. I'm saving that first pic LOL:D
What happened to all the dsmer's that said they were going? There was a ton of evos.. I was stocked to see soo many cars..:hellyeah:

Welcome back! How's the baby? I was overseas myself for a few weeks but in the UK. They stay open until November but it starts getting cold out there in October since they insist on only being open at night.

I'm trying to decide what direction to take my DSM in at the moment. I was keeping it balanced for street, drag, and autox but I bought an Evo so now the street and autox are covered with that. That frees my DSM up for drag racing but I don't know if I want to strip it (cut out the trunk, lexan, bumper exit exhaust, fuel cell, heater, etc)and keep playing with the 14b or just throw on something bigger (20g, hx35, etc). Either way I will be working on traction. I'd like to swap to a full slick on a 13 inch rim as opposed to my 16" drag radials. I would also like to get some custom made traction bars since there isn't much available for the FWD DSMs.

Nathan,
Just got back into town again. It has been crazy busy past few months, plus with the new baby I have been in Japan alot. I will be here for almost a month this time. Wont go back to Japan until October 1st.
I worked on the Talon some this past weekend. Rebuilt my Teins and changed springs again. Dont know if I like it, sits lower that I like. Which is crazy to me since the car is so lite. Cant imagine how low it would be if the car was full weight.
I am still having the same issue I was before with all cylinders firing consistently. Everything else feels solid. I need to just send in my ECU and eliminate that from the equation. Going to do like you recommended and send it out to Tom and Dave at ECMTuning.
Just hope to get her running right. When its firing properly it feels strong. Plus such a shame, it's just sitting in a corner in the garage collecting dust.

I hear you man! Sounds like you have made some good progress though! Like I told you before, if there is any issue with our ECU, Tom and Dave will be able to find it and fix it for you. I have never heard a single complaint on them which is quite rare in this market and I have had only good experiences as well.

I just got back yesterday myself from working out in Arizona. I should be here the rest of the year though.

Here is a picture I thought you would enjoy. I took it a autox 2 weeks ago here in El Paso. This guy just got back from Japan too but he brought himself back a 2000 Evo VI Tommi Makinen edition. Mine is the black VIII in the middle. You really ought to come down for one of these event, you would love it!

Well after a year long battle with my car and money it's finally done and running still needs minor adjustments but what a great relief just knowing I can be back on the road with my own dsm again.

Awesome man! That is always a good feeling!

ALRIGHT, WHO DID IT?!!

One of you did... And I want to know who....

Because I want buy you a beer! Let me elaborate...

This evening I went for a drive here in Carlsbad, after having changed a few minor things in my timing map and sticking even more big semi truck T-bolt clamps on my shitty blow-off-at-23-psi-no-matter-how-big-your-clamps-are IC couplings. I ran into a guy driving a silver 97ish base model Dodge Viper. He was at a bar I go to, and was out front in the parking lot talking like he was a F1 race car driver to impress the (not hot barfly) ladies with his bad ass Viper which MUST have testicles the size of boulders... Then I heard him start it. I have heard Dodge V10's up close, and this one sounded like it was blowing enough air into the crank case that you could hear it loud and clear, just by leaning down by the front of the engine... He popped the hood to show off. The PCV line was twitching. There was oil bleeding from the block. I knew this motor was beat to death, it just didn't sound right, so I decided to make him put some cash on his claims. I told him I thought his car was a salvaged POS and that my car could leave him on our rough 1/4 mile, mesquite lined, abandoned highway by at least a length. He joked about it with the bar skanks... My 4 cylinder wasn't even in the same league, according to him. Then I popped my hood and explained all the real work I had done to my motor, let him look around, then started it up for him... And his tone immediately changed... He pulled me to the side and said.......AND I QUOTE:
"My heads are blown, and it won't hold much. I ran a couple of you DSM boys in El Paso, and that is how I ####ed the motor up. I'm not running against that (my car), or any other DSM like that... I have no idea what the hell to expect."

Who ever it was over there that spanked this silver Viper poser, you deserve a beer, because I drove out of that parking lot looking like a bad ass MF'r for your efforts. Thank you.

Yup, I am a crankwalk survivor... I just rebuilt the motor and put a new crank and bearings in, and it has been fine ever since. The crank I destroyed was a softer steel than the new one. I had them both tested at work just to see if that really was one of the causes. Sure enough, the old 95 crank was softer... It wasn't even remanufacturable, it had so much damage, and out of everything that got chewed up, the crank lost the most amount of metal by far. Good thing I always keep a neodynium speaker magnet on the oil pan I guess. The engine was relatively shavings free.

What up guys n gals, I have a package deal if anyone is interested. I have a 98 black ecu with evo 8-9 injectors 560 to be exactly and the tactrix 2.0 openport. I have this for sell in case anyone is interested. Text me 5755718051, also i will help you out to setup ecuflash and evoscan for you.
