DSM's are domestics, right?

Its a domestic car with japanese components. Its not an import. What country did we 'import' this vehicle from, the country of Illinois? Why are we even having this arguement?

Wow, my first 2 page thread. (tear)

thanks for the info everyone, i'm thinking they are domestics

Not to many, if any where built in japan correct? Would that mean america imported them to japan?

All of them were built in Illinois. Nowhere else. We _ex_ported them to Japan and Europe.... Australia has drastic domestic content laws, I'm not sure any got to that continent.

A kid that goes to my school has a big IMPORTED POWER sticker across his front winshield. It is a 95GSX, his car is a domestic, right?

Thanks
Dan

Does it really matter let him do his thang!

I don't really think of cars of Domestics of Imports.
There are 2 charateristics I break them into;

First: Sleeper, Riced Out, or Stock
Second: Fast or slow

So, were all Talons Eclipse and Lasers made in the same factory? I'm interested to know how they were divided up.

mitsubishis are imports, because mitsubishi is foreign to the US.

eagles and plymouths are domestics because they are divisions of chrysler, which is a US based company.

a mustang is built in mexico, that makes it an import, right?

all the same factory

That's pretty crazy, one line eclipse, one line talon, and the other laser.

nope, I've been to a couple car factories, there are alot here in Stuttgart. The machinery is awesome, its unreal. I saw cars go from base frame to finish in one day. It started as a frame and came out a BRAND NEW SHINY C-Class. But on the same line, the made hatchbacks, coupes, (small vans), anything from the Ultra small A-Class or SLK classes, to the big boat E or S classes, and even the SL Classes

everyone will have their different opinions. The car was made in the US. But has imported parts. From a non-educated person's perspective it's an import.

I am educated on the matter, but if I didn't have the time to explane it to someone I would just say it is a import.

In turth it is a domestic car with a import power plant and drive train.

gm owns mitsubishi now dont they? Anyways the engine and tranny came from japan but everything else comes from the good ol u.s.a.

ohh so theirs only 'sleepers, "riced out", and stock' looking cars?
so theres no good looking cars? They can only be sleeper or full out rice-burner?I didnt know this! WTF? so a car cant look amazing? for example, if u saw a fully done Nismo Skyline, it would be either sleeper or riced out? :p good luck with your crashed sleeper/riced out DSM:thumb:
OMG ahhh! I think u need a new hood! LOL

GASP!

mitsubishi!

chrysler owns a number of shares and has a partnership with Mitsu USA, this is probably where your confusion and misinformation comes from.

as for where the parts came from.... DSMs are based off the galant platform.. they are ### cars... get over it fools. your car is not a domestic, though it may have a domestic brand (plymouth, eagle)

That was uncalled for. I did not say that it was an "either/or" judgement. More of a scale. And neither extreme end of the scale is bad.

I think of my car as an import though they do break down a lot like a domestic:p

This thread is going no further, it's out of hand enough already, it's coming on and asking "is an N/T a dsm?" and other questions like that.
There is no right answer and all people do is argue about it.
